Thank you for the feedback on Relics that you’ve sent us in the last few days.
First, we would like to sincerely apologize for all the concerns and frustrations that this new feature has raised. The intention with Relics was to make combat more interesting, add a new element to collect in the game, and allow a new evolution of strategy in the current Monster Legends metagame.
Here are the biggest changes on the feature that you can expect in the next two weeks:
BALANCING IMPROVEMENTS AND BUG FIXING
You have told us that some relics are too powerful, some too weak. Here is the list of changes we want to do to make sure relics are more fun and fair.
Relics that modify speed will not remove monsters extra turns. This is a bug and was not intended as in the Relic description.
These Relics have additional modifications, that are explained below.
Team War interface will be improved so that you can check enemies Relics during Preparation phase, and build strategies with your team.
Relics that triggered “When being hit”, will trigger “After being hit”.
This means that the perk will not activate if the caster monster has zero life, which was causing Healing Mask and Healing Essence to revive the caster.
This will modify the behavior of the following Relics:
Mask of Darkness, Charge Mask, Draining Mask, Energy Mask, Thunder Revenge Helmet, Healing Mask, Exhausting Mask, Despair Armor, Charging Armor, Heavy Duty Armor, Exhausting Trap, Oblation Trap, Taiga Trap, Avenging Energy Staff, Revenge Staff, Healing Essence and Kinetik Amulet.
Relics that modify Speed will decrease their effect by 30% compared to the original effect, as many players reported that the effect was extremely unbalanced. These Relics have also been modified in their behavior to make Speed modifications less disruptive.
This will modify the behavior of the following Relics:
Slowening Trap, Delayer Trap, Amulet of Swiftness, Amulet of Haste, Osur’s Amulet, Swiftness Banner and Haste Banner
Relics that decrease Max Life will decrease their effect by 55% compared to the original, as many players reported that the effect was massive and felt overpowered.
This will modify the behavior of Pestilence Trap and Taiga Trap.
On top of these changes, the following Relics will be modified to improve the game balance and competitiveness:
Uriel Essence will say: “When the wearer dies, revives it with X points of Life. 1 use”.
Comeback Essence will say: “After being hit, increases all allies Life by X points (2 turns). 1 use”.
Taiga Trap will say: “After being hit, if wearers Life is below 50%, decreases attacker's Maximum Life permanently by X points. 2 uses”
Osur’s Amulet will say: “When the turn starts, increases all allies' Power by X points (1 turn) and increases all allies' Speed by X points (1 turn). 1 use”
Slowing Trap will say: “After being hit, decreases a random enemy's Speed by %s points (1 turn). 1 use”.
Delayer Trap will say: “After being hit, decreases all enemies’ Speed by X points (for 2 turns). 1 use”.
Healing Essence will say: “After being hit, if wearers Life is below 50%, heals wearer by X points. 1 use”
Amulet of Swiftness will say: “After being hit, if wearers Life is below 50%, increases a random ally's Speed by %s points (1 turn). 1 use”
Amulet of Haste will say: “After being hit, increases wearers Speed by %s points (1 turn). 1 use”
Haste Banner will say: “When the turn starts, if wearers Life is below 75%, increases a random ally’s Speed by X points (1 turn). 2 uses”
Restoring Essence will now have 2 uses instead of 1, aiming to make it more useful in combat.
Jakugan Sword will now have 2 uses instead of 3.
Atum’s Armor, Tenacity Shield, Delayer Trap, Vitality Essence, Regeneration Essence, Major Vitality Essence, Protection Amulet and Swiftness Banner will now have 1 use instead of 2.
- Staff Relics will change its behavior, aiming to make them more interesting to play and add extra diversity to the gameplay choices:
Punisher Staff will say: “When the turn starts, if wearer is Stunned, removes X points of Stamina from a random enemy. 2 uses”.
Cold Staff will say: “When the turn starts, if wearer is Frozen, deal X points of Damage to a random enemy. 2 uses”.
Spirits Staff will say: “When the turn starts, if any enemy is Possessed, increase their Power by X points (1 turn). 2 uses”
Shaman Staff will say: “When the turn starts, if wearer is Possessed, decreases wearers Power by X points (1 turn). 2 uses”
Charging Staff will say: “When hitting, if target is Stunned, gives X points of Stamina to wearer. 2 uses”.
Avenging Energy Staff will say: “After being hit, removes X points of Stamina from a random enemy. 2 uses”
Drainer Staff will say: “When hitting, if target’s stamina is below 50%, decreases target’s Maximum Stamina permanently by X points. 1 use”.
Energizer Staff will say: “When the turn starts, if any ally’s Stamina is below 25%, gives X points of Stamina to them. 1 use”.
Oblation Staff will say: “When hitting, removes X points of Stamina from target. 1 use”
Revenge Staff will say: “After being hit, removes X points of Stamina from attacker. 2 uses”
Cane of Atlantis will say: “When the turn starts, if any ally’s Stamina is below 50%, gives X points of Stamina to them. 2 uses”
We believe that those changes will make the game more balanced, both for attackers and defenders. Monsters will still remain the key element in battle strategy. Relics are an additional bonus factor, similar to runes, and a chance to make older monsters (and breedable ones) more valuable in combat.
MORE RELICS IN EVENTS
We were unclear in our initial messaging on how players can obtain Relics. They will not be exclusive to purchased chests from the Chest shop. Like cells, Relics are going to be given out as rewards in many parts of the game:
- Multiplayer battle (PVP) will include Relics as rewards from next season starting on Monday, Nov 20th
- All Islands will contain Relics; you can already find some in the Hidden Creatures maze, and expect many more on the upcoming Islands.
- Dungeons and Time challenges may include Relics as reward, so check them out every time.
- Monsterwood, as you might have seen already, will feature at periods Chests that will grant Relics.
- Adventure map: the next Xmas island will also include Relics.

Don't worry if you haven't been able to get many Relics yet. This feature has been designed so that you can collect and level up relics over the time by playing game events.
Chest price will be adjusted; also - following your feedback - we will reduce the battle items or gold rewards to give more weight to higher value rewards (Relics, Runes, Cells, …). Additional discounts will also be available for Black Friday.
Take into account that chests do not grant only Relics: a chest’s price reflects the value of all granted rewards: Relics, Monsters, Cells, Runes…
In order to explore the new feature and get familiar with the different Relics & perks, the unequipping cost will be changed to gold for one month.
Exclusive time-limited chests: In the coming weeks, a series of time-limited chests have been scheduled, some of them can be purchased with War Coins (Team War chest) or even Gold. Other chests will also guarantee a specific Relic category to make it easier to equip your favorite monster with Relics.
Our long term goal is to ensure that Team Wars and PvP are enhanced with the addition of Relics, and we aim to achieve that over the coming weeks through balancing improvements and fixes. For this continuous task, your feedback is invaluable.
We considered removing Relics temporarily, however, there are thousands of players who are already enjoying experimenting and competing with Relics and it could potentially cause additional overall player pain if we were to take such a drastic step. We expect that the rebalanced Relics, along with the ability for players to acquire them much more easily, will enhance strategy in Team War and PVP.
We are committed to keep an eye on their power and usage, as we make changes to deliver a better experience.
In the coming weeks, we will also establish a group of testers which will include top players, to better associate the Community in the development of new features. Please, keep sending us your feedback, they help us in making Monster Legends a greater game.
