Hello people of the ML Community! Some of you may know me from the Wiki- I had stopped playing on November to study for my exams. However, now that's over and I've started playing again. I used to post monster guides on the Wiki, and now I plan to do the same here-albeit with more detail. Without further ado, let's start with Igursus.
Igursus, as said by the game itself, has the highest Life value of any monster currently in the game- which is very helpful against all the powerhouses the Fire element has, such as General Darmith and Kaih the Eradicator. Not only that, but he also has the moves to back it up-Vesuvius is a godsend for Igursus, reflecting back all the powerful moves at the glass cannons that fired them. He also packs status effects such as Burning and %50 Shield-taking advantage of his tanky nature. Lastly, he possesses the precious Mountain trait, which greatly improves his matchup vs. Water and Earth monsters. The only downside is, like his brother Ouros, he has abysmal Speed, which must be patched up with Speed runes. Unlike Ouros, however, he doesn't suffer much from said weakness-no Fire monster can immobilize him, so he becomes one of the most powerful Fire monsters to use in Team Wars since his low Speed means more time with Vesuvius.
Runes: 1 Speed, 1 Strength, 1 Life
This set brings out Igursus' most powerful trait-taking hits like a champ and destroying frail monsters, be it with their own moves, or with his own powerful attacks. Vesuvius is Igursus' most effective tool against his Fire brethren- it reflects their attacks back at them, all the while protecting his teammates with his massive bulk. Pacaya has the golden 45 Base Power for AOE moves, and it Burns all enemies it hits, which goes greatly with his tanky nature. Krakatoa does hefty damage, but more importantly gives Igursus a 50% Shield, which is very tough considering his monstrous Life stat. Lastly, Etna is used to be an all around great damage move, be it with its instant unresisted 65 Base Power, or with its Quicksand effect, not to mention it having 1 CD. The rune set makes Igursus tanky and not too slow to be outrun multiple times by the enemy, and 1 Strength rune increases the reflection power of Vesuvius and his heavy damaging attacks.
Teammates: One of the big problems Igursus faces is that he is a Fire monster, which also has a negative effect- he is very likely to be Burned, chipping off large amounts of Life. For this reason, a monster who can rid him of negative effects is useful. General Ingvar shines in this role, as not only does he cure Igursus of annoying status, but he also grants him much needed Regeneration. Keep in mind that Igursus reflects ALL attacks aimed towards him- he can reflects devastating moves such as CDs Activated or any extra turn attack- and synergy-wise, attacks aimed towards him by teammates.
Countering Igursus: Igursus' biggest weakness is two things- a lack of reliable healing and not having an immunity to Burns. Kaih the Eradicator makes a painful example of this, inflicting Igursus with Ignite AND Burn, which swiftly chips down the volcano. Timerion can Equalize Igursus with no fear of it being bounced back since it does nothing when bounced back. Hydratila the Icebringer can use Freeze Manager on him, dealing critical damage and gaining free Stamina. Barbatos' Master of Pain can be used on Igursus to deal very high amounts of damage, with being hit by the move and then using it himself, losing 30% of his life immediately. (NOT CONFIRMED: Nox the Condemned can use Dead Vision to massively damage Igursus, but does Igursus die because he uses the attack himself and should lose 75% of his max health?)(EDIT: After playing with Igursus a bit, I've seen that Possession is the biggest counter to him as while he is Possessed, he reflects the attacks to himself-meaning the enemy will cast AOE moves on your team twice.)
