Hello everyone and welcome to my 1st analysis, featuring Igursus.
Overview: Igursus was made to be a tank, but unlike the modern tanks who start with Taunt casting, he needs to get his Taunt up manually, which is difficult and not extremely effective considering his low Speed and the fact that his Taunt is not even Mega. Even though he can set up Taunt with help from teammates, he doesn't have the necessary tools to stall the enemy like Ouros, which makes him a poor dedicated tank. Instead, Igursus functions slightly differently from other tanks; he focuses on not dying easily while dishing out good damage. The Skill Mirror on his Taunt hints at this, allowing him to take single target attacks and reflect them off based on his Strength stat. Also, Mountain for a trait is great for an attacker, as it blocks 2 of the 3 major deny effects. All is not easy for Igursus, however, as the power level of today's metagame might prove a bit too much for a manual Taunt setter, with all the speedy buff removers and insane damage amplifiers that run around. Still, if provided with proper support, Igursus can put in work.
Vesuvius gives Igursus Taunt and Skill Mirror, making it a pivotal move in his arsenal. Etna has a solid 65 Base Power, is unresisted, and it applies Quicksands to boost its damage further. Pacaya has the golden 45 Base Power and it Burns all enemies to further pile on damage. Lastly, Krakatoa can be used to deal great damage while giving yourself a 50% Shield, or Teide can be used to have a nuke.
A rainbow spread makes Krakatoa more ideal for the last slot. It beefs up Igursus to take on attackers better. Another option is 2 Strength 1 Speed, which makes Teide the better choice for the last slot, as it focuses entirely on damage output. For Mutant Runes, get all of the extra Life you can, and for the Life Rune, getting a Strength Mutation will allow Igursus to move less, increasing his time spent with Vesuvius, and it gives a boost in damage output.
Teammate Options: Igursus' biggest perk is Vesuvius, so you should prioritize it getting set up and not being removed. Skill Mirror will reflect skills cast on your team or on Igursus by allies as well, which will make them trigger twice - this is especially deadly with extra turn skills like Samael the Plague Carrier's Samael Warrior. Countering Igursus: Focus on removing his Skill Mirror, as with it he can reflect your most deadly attacks back at you. For more Counter options, check out this article.
