@jacinto said in New TB rewards... seriously?:
I am surprised that nobody wrote in this thread, maybe because people start to care less and less and we realized that any dollar spent in this game is totally wasted eith this company running it.
This is so true (at least for me) it hurts. On the other hand, I'm glad if this is what's happening because it seems that unless majority of players stops doing something out of misery SP can't notice anything.
WARNING: long rant about TB and the game in general.
I’m quite interested in SP logic here. You create an event where you basically push players to obtain and rank as many monsters as possible. You don’t give additional habitats though (ok, that’s not related)
This event is seriously bugged but you can’t do anything about it especially since you run it during weekends when you don’t work (???)
So ok you decide to block people from spending gems to make it look better and push people to buy even more monsters to benefit in the long run but don’t fix the bugs, so it’s even worse because now when players lose their attack monsters due to bugs they can't use them for good.
Then people start to fill up their habitats/vaults and you’re like “ok now it’s time to ensure that rewards are so bad you don’t need to do any of these things above.”
So why do I need to prepare for TB? It takes a lot of strategy and planning to win vs equal opponent (if matchmaking RNG actually gives us equal opponent huh)
On top of that, these chests that you are supposed to spend medals on are still BS. I don’t want to gamble on which monster I get from a chest I ground several months for. We still don't know which relics we can get from team shop dia relic chest.
Hard investing in anything for the sake of TB just makes no sense now with these rewards. This includes both buying/ranking monsters, additional runes, and investing time and effort in strategy during this event. So I guess SP just outplayed themselves here if their main goal was to push us to get and rank more stuff.
On the other hand, even these rewards are ok if you don’t need to do anything to obtain them, if we see this event as “collect rng amount of medals each month for doing nothing.” It's still sad in terms of fun this game brings. I like TB, both preparation and attack day, you were heavily rewarded for team play and strategy. It was fun and engaging.
Problem is even with these rewards you still need to prepare and divide your monsters into groups if you want to compete and get that competitive drive. Going full ape mode on such event feels bad and just turns it into another event you don’t notice.
It feels like SP just don't want to invest time and energy to actually notice what is going on with the game. ML is just one of games SP has after all. I guess they don’t have enough motivation for that, even with all people spending, with all feedback they get. I can’t explain it otherwise. All the bugs/typos/inconsistencies this game has are still here, some of each exists for years. Usually SP doesn't notice imbalance in this game unless situation is so bad as current pvp, for example.
Even in pvp case by the way. How long this system is live? About a year? A year of nagging and complains about this system. SP starts to tweak the system to favor players only after L4 disappeared for almost 2 seasons and L3 got in danger as well. Before that SP were just experimenting with how to make pvp harder for players until enough players stopped doing pvp for them to notice.
It is really hard to recruit new players for a team in top 50 by the way. Why? There are not enough players at this level. They are either too strong because they endured everything for several years and kept motivation to play or they are too low because they started not so long ago and didn’t face the fact that to continue growing your account you either need to make this game your second job or invest some serious amount of cash (or both) while being rewarded as usual. It’s funny that SP might actually increase both revenue and playerbase if they make rewards meaningful across the board but they will never do that in fear of losing what they have (read it as elite players cashing in for every update). And here we are, in this situation where we are right now, where elite is fighting against elite making the middle slowly disappear. Pvp is just so great to illustrate this.
I feel like whoever handles rewards and balance (if SP has such person for ML) must know nothing about the game. This game has so many power layers it’s actually incredible: from teams with commons on defense to 130 warmasters, and all of them have their own meta. You need to actually play the game and to grow an account from the scratch to see it and I really doubt that whoever makes decisions did that, at least because it takes at least a couple of years to progress to the top, and even with 2 years you'd need to invest a good amount of money. What it means is we won't get a large influx of decent players to fill up empty spots top 100/50/30 teams have for quite a while (which they have to fill up with their alt accounts or accept lower players), if it's actually going to happen at all, maybe we'll just see more mergers of half empty teams and overall level will drop, and the gap will just become even bigger, until elite teams won't find any even semi decent targets to fight but themselves. SP rarely does anything if it doesn’t give them additional revenue in short term. They do some great things and then crush your hope again gutting something else. Anyways, I don’t know the actual numbers, ML statistics and so on, so I might be wrong. It’s only up to SP to decide what to do but I feel like ML is definitely not their main priority.
