I know we can’t do polls or anything and since post will be deemed negative will probably be locked but just wondering as we have a lot of regular posters on this forum are you still having fun playing game, or just playing out of habit loyalty to team whatever. When I first started playing this game though it was really fun to play and enjoyed the challenges mazes, races, pvps etc but In my personal opinion all the fun of the game has been sucked out of it with all recent changes. So this post is basically just to get a feel of who is still really enjoying the game and who is now disillusioned with it.

How many playing out of habit now
Post count: 10906Reputation: 6620Joined:Location: New Jersey, USAI still have fun.....not as much as before but I still do have fun. But with that said the game went from being my secondary game to a time filler. Though I doubt I will still be playing a year from now unless more fun features come back or introduced.
But keep in mind a lot of the recent changes are not game changers for me as I have always been a collector rather than a fighter. But they have made it nearly impossible to collect so that is where I am losing my interest in the game.
Fyi, please keep this topic constructive without the rants to keep the dialogue open.

That better mean that they have GREATLY reduced the price of slots because I hsve reached the point where I will not buy any more, nor have much more room for anything new.

I hope not, that will not be an improvement. And while I paid A LOT for several slots if they now changed them over to gold rather than gems to buy I would be completely ok with that. Hopefully whatever the change they actually make it affordable. Or do the reasonable thing and make the most expensive slots for 50 gems as they are in DC.

Post count: 454Reputation: 190Joined:Is an interesting question, why do we play? I find myself logging on 1st thing and then last thing too with many times in between. It could be considered habit I suppose but I must enjoy some of it. Some quality of life features would be greatly received though. Collect all gold button for one thing. Then there are too many animations and my phone lags horribly so giving options to reduce or turn off would be super. Then a feed 5 levels button so you only need to press 20 times and not 400...then a slider for buying level 1 runes. Oh and one for opening chests. I have a stockpile that I don't use as too tedious to open.

Post count: 1188Reputation: 1039Joined:Location: AustraliaThe main attraction for me has always been running a fun team of like-minded players doing wars. This one main attraction of the game is better than it has ever been before, so thanks SP for that!
However, everything else in the game that feeds into becoming stronger and better for wars has become worse. Progressives, Mazes - absolutely impossible. Also, there hasn't been an older monster obtainable for free that was worth having in a while. Master of Paths was great, but the long time since the last one tells me that SP thinks that was too generous. Timed Challenges, in particular Gold Fever, was something I enjoyed, strategically build your gold economy to climb the ranks. This has now been turned into strategically spending money or don't bother. Essentially, I play less and less events because they are just not worth the effort anymore. I just say 72 hour Challenge

I still strongly consider quitting the game in the future due to the lack of fun. The events I like the most are not coming back( probably never ever) and that is a big minus according to me.

Players had to have yellow vest riots for months before SP figured out we were sick of the cash races and changed them, they changed the meta and people went nuts so we got skill changes for gold, players went ballistic over mid race changes to Cyber and Shademoon so now they give us official stats so we will spend.
No changes have been given to the player base with them reaching the last straw with us time after time. -

Post count: 179Reputation: 106Joined:I still like playing the game almost as much as I did when I started playing, mainly because of the cool new monsters and battle mechanics, new possibilities of strategies, and of course, rewarding special events like Nemesis Survival dungeons. True, there are lots of places for improvement in a number of aspects, but its also undeniable that SP has made some pretty generous moves in the past few months too, secondary to player feedback (free skill change, chests from the Special Progressives). I suppose I will stick to the game as long as I can maintain a competitive gameplay to my satisfaction, and I really look forward to seeing other rewarding events like Master of Paths and the Relic version of 72 H Challenge return soon and often. Might I also add that making some new monsters from mazes and progressives available at a respectable rank through pure effort seems to me like a good idea to nurture more interest? After all, people do get bored of playing with the same guys over and over again

Post count: 1509Reputation: 305Joined:I have began deleting a monster whenever I hatch a new one. For example, just hatched Yimburbur, but I am not paying 60gems for a new Vault slot, so I am afraid I deleted one of my Nature monsters in the nature habitat (sorry, Roastie).
The game was all about collecting, but nowadays you cannot collect unless you spend silly money. It would have cost me £300 to obtain Grumpex and Zameleon in the last maze for example. Who the hell pays that?!
This game should be all about PVP - even the events should be PVP based. Other games do it brilliantly, yet Monster Legends is still about collecting gold, MANUALLY feeding with food, and moving silly chess pieces along a maze path.
If you are going to have Epics in the game, then there needs to be an Epic metagame. With Power_Creep philosophy, only the best monsters are needed - so that kind of rules out 80% of all legendaries in the game. I must have spent £1000 over the past 2 years on those monsters, and you're telling me I cannot use them anymore? What kind of game is this?!
I also want to see each element have its own PVP metagame. Don't just pick your 3 best monsters for PVP, let's do it element by element. This encourages collecting, and if one player wanted to focus on one element, then he could still have fun with that element in PVP.
I have also said before about introducing Generations (like Pokémon I guess). The Library Books were perfect for this, but as usual $P used them for purposes of earning money rather than helping casual players. What if in Dark Wars or a dungeon, you had to use a monster from Dark Gen 1 (i.e. Lostyghost, Sir Slumberly, Darkghul)? There is now a necessity to own even older monsters with lower stats.
And don't even get me started on team races. Holy cow. If $P thought this was a game, then Team Race would go the way of the Dodo. However, Team Race is a cash cow and it pays for the electricity in the office, so I doubt we will ever see it change or removed completely.

The only reason players do that is to get stronger for wars and most of it is mindless grinding. It's a pity, the game has so much unused potential.....

Agreed, my team basically still exists solely because of Team Wars, and even then, I feel like we almost hit the tipping point right and called it quits before the matchmaking changes were put in to place last season.
Progression (collecting, ranking monsters, fusing relics, etc) is all for the purpose of doing well in team wars. SP has finally (after years!) decided that maybe Team Wars should actually be competitive, but some days it still feels like they don't take it seriously enough. If the hours we play the game to improve rosters mean nothing in terms of tipping a war, then what's the point? Winning or losing wars by 150-200 coins gives zero motivation to keep trying, and we still just recently had a run where 5 out of 6 wars were decided by an average of over 260 coins!
If SP can't figure out how to make matches "fair" for everyone because the power gaps are too big between teams, then they should be looking at ways to reduce it, so there's a bit more parity. Instead we get new features that will increase that gap....I just don't get it.

How many playing out of habit now
Post count: 16Reputation: 35Joined:I started the game at its early days and invested a lot of time and real cash in this game. Over time, I started to play by habits and spent less time in this game. And one day, I decided to quit. I still dropped by the forum now and then to check out how the game is doing. For me, there were many things which make me quit the game.
- As a collector like Nynaevelan, the vault is a tipping point for me. In addition, it becomes impossible to get new monsters in events without spending a lot.
- Events require a lot of time and real money to complete. To have a chance at new monsters, you have to log in every 8 hours for the progressive island, or 4 hours for mazes, not to mention the races. That is too much time commitment.
- There are so many new monsters coming out constantly. Before I get used to one, the new one already comes out. Among the pool of those 600+ monsters, how many are actually used? It gets saturated. In addition, the game becomes chasing after the newest shiny toys, which may be left aside for a new one after a while.
- Besides events (which require us to perform monotonous repeating tasks), there is nothing much to do in the game. War doesn't take much time to do. There are nothing for you to do to improve your monsters.
I have moved on to another game of a similar nature. From this game, I have seen many good features which ML can adopt to improve.
- Unlimited number of monsters you can own. They don't have monster walking animation. In fact, what is the use of the monster walking animation which takes more memory in our phone?
- Their events can be completed by any player by spending at most one hour a day during event period. They even give players extra days to complete events. All events are doable. It makes me feel that the developers respect my personal time.
- Very slow rate of releasing monsters. Each new monster comes with a well written story and many times, an event to welcome it.
- There are lot of things to do in the game. You need to fight with the monsters to train them. In addition, there are several game modes. One monster who excels in one game mode may not be good in another. There is a true PvP, in which two players can fight against each other in real time. They also have something similar to ML PvP, but that game mode is considered as PvE since the AI is in control. One of their PvE game modes which I like a lot is the puzzle mode. In this mode, the AI monster's stats are inflated and they are given additional skills. I need to think of which monsters to use to counter their skills.
- They have a variety of events, both in games and on social media (art contest, cosplay contest, interview).
- Old monsters are revisited by the developers and have their skills adjusted to compete in the meta. On the other hand, OP monsters are nerfed.
- Bugs are promptly fixed within the day and all players are given "gems" when bugs occur.
- Lot of QoL. You can use/ feed everything in one go, discard everything in one go, lock items/ monsters so you won't accidentally discard them, popup when you are going to use/ discard something of high rarity, full autorun (imagine when you are in a dungeon and use autorun, you auto move to the next node), an item to exchange ranks between two monsters (you can only get one of this item every two weeks), an in-game profile where others can see your list of achievements, in-game report and blacklist system, in-game mail and chat, all gatcha rates are published...
I am not saying that ML has to adopt all of these things but many of them can make ML become more attractive and retain its players.

Post count: 318Reputation: 148Joined:@eclair ML has just recently added the option to turn off the monster animations in the habitats, and sounds like they are going to unleash spots in the vault in a much more reasonable manner (free, like it should have been) soon.
There are still lots to improve on, and hopefully they keep trending in that direction. With these good updates they still seem to be competing against updates that seem to further create divisiveness within the game (mutant runes without fixing rune costs, ever more gambling, etc), so, we'll see!

I get bored by the constant events one after another and they are all designed for Us to spend money or gems. I also don't like how unobtainable nemesis monsters are. Or getting ranked up warmasters. The amount of orbs plus the ranked monsters u need to get them. I mean 3 monsters ranked 110 just to get a warmaster to rank 105 is nonsense. Its all time and money. The game could be so much better. In UK money I could have just bought stake for £48 WTF!! That amount of money can buy an entire game on a console - not just one monster. I will carry on playing as long as I'm competitive and enjoying pvp

Post count: 43Reputation: 69Joined:I love games and so do my children. We all played DC and ML. After the lab, I was the only one still playing ML and that was a bit of fun for almost another year.
I liked the three-levelled Nemesis dungeons a year ago (easy, medium and hard). They where a real challenge and very well dimensioned. Unfortunately they stopped (so did the progression of many players Nemesis monsters).
I think the WM series of monsters where interesting and the last one: a great surprise.
But besides that I play solely because of Team Wars and even that has been a bumpy ride lately.
I have promissed myself that when I stop ML, I will never ever look for another android game (I caught myself in searching for a game like the one ML once was!); games on Steam, Blizzard etc are just so much better, I think, and there are no bad surprices such as hidden extra fees.
But for players enjoying gambling it might be fun or ? -

These were some of the most fun I ever had on ML. I have been suggesting on multiple occasions that they should bring them back, at least the Dungeons with other rewards if SP want to keep the lid on Nemesis. The Survival Dungeons are over way too quickly and you can't have 5, 10, 20 goes at a node until you finally get the right combo + luck to crack it!!!

Post count: 48Reputation: 27Joined:@alex-pisi -think you have nailed the situation. I sit here in the current maze and am just appalled that i need 415 maze coins to move my lousy epic Donaturtle 1 space. I still have another 5 spaces , or so to move him, so probably need another 3500~ coins to get him. Should I spend $25 to get those coins? Of course not, it’s a lousy epic that I never use. Since I am a level 136, I have almost 10 billion gold and almost 500 million food at my disposal, but those items are virtually worthless.
I started looking closely at the items that are for sale and am constantly amazed that anyone would pay upwards of $100 for a monster that SP will nerf in a few months. Or even worse, you can spend a similar amount and gamble .
So,like the OP, I have been going through the motions for several years. I suspect that if you are a lower level player, this game still is enjoyable. My only word of caution is to enjoy it now
Notice that I have not accused SP of being greedy. It’s their game and they can do as they please. SP does need to take note that they have lost track of their high level players. Too bad. Doubt I will be missed, but think I’m going to free up some memory space. Adios
