Hello everyone and welcome to my 214th analysis, this time featuring Gorg.
Overview: Gorg is an exceptionally powerful monster wherever and whenever he's present. His trait of Freeze Immunity may be underwhelming, but his SC that applies Shock to all enemies is extremeply powerful because many monsters utilize extra turns nowadays, and Shock blocks said extra turns. Gorg's stats are extremely good, boasting one of the highest Base Strength stats in the game, great Base Life and 3509 Base Speed, which allows him to outspeed so many key monsters. However, what makes Gorg truly powerful is his downright insane moves: these include an AOE damaging move with an extra turn, a Self move that gives him Double Damage, True Vision and Evasion, an AOE damaging move that removes buffs before Stunning all monsters, and a Self move that gives him Sea Hater, Precision and an extra turn. His only true downsides are his trait that is somehow lacking and weakness to CD Activation. Aside from this, Gorg has terrifying competition from Hookuai as an attacker, who comes armed with Control Immunity and Anticipation, in addition to CD Activation and a Base 70 move that has 0 CD and 0 Stamina Cost. However, these do not stop Gorg from being one of the most powerful monsters of all time.

Builds:
Monsters that have access to Group 4 skills will have a slightly different build path. I will list the most viable builds for each Rank since some moves in Group 4 are pivotal to some sets' success. The monster's role will likely remain the same, however, so this won't be exhaustingly long as I won't repeat the same things.

Build Explanation:
Whale Expert is a key move for Gorg, allowing a massive damage boost against Sea monsters, and if not it's free Precision. Blunt Harpoon is his most damaging move that bypasses Evasion and similar damage reducing effects under normal circumstances, and Stuns the target if they're not dead. Start With A Bang is used because it has an exta turn attached to it, and has the highest damage among his current moves aside Blunt Harpoon. Lastly, Bait To Swallow is there to have an AOE attack.
2 Strength 1 Speed, along with Life Mutations, is standard on an attacker.

Rank1: Gorg learns "Electrified Harpoon" at this level, a single target Base 55 unresisted move that removes the target's buffs before dealing damage, and applies Shock to all enemies after dealing damage.
Start With A Bang is better, skip this move. Plus, your SC is AOE Shock anyway.

Rank2: Gorg learns "Underwater Bamboozle" at this level, an AOE Base 40 Water move that gives Gorg an extra turn.

Build Explanation:
Underwater Bamboozle is definitely needed here since it's essentially free damage against all enemies. This moveset makes Gorg an extra turn spammer, since the following combo is possible:
Whale Expert - Start With A Bang - Underwater Bamboozle - Whale Expert - Start With A Bang
and with this, it's possible to kill almost any monster without Life Runes, since you're using Base 50 twice and 40 once - it equates to taking a Double Damage boosted, unressited Blunt Harpoon.

Rank3: Gorg learns "Mimicry Expert" at this level, a Self move that gives Gorg Double Damage, Evasion and True Vision.

Build Explanation:
Mimicry Expert is an option over Whale Expert now since it is more useful if no Sea monsters are present. Plus, the Evasion it provides may make it more worthy even with Sea monsters present.

Build Explanation:
The aim of this build is to execute the chain of moves given below, in the given order(moves referred to by their initials for the ease of reading):
W - U - S - W - M
Then, when Gorg gets his next turn (made likely and possible by the protection provided by M) use the following sequence:
S - U - W - S
By this point, it's likely that the enemy team is dead, but you can continue by ending with M if it's necessary. However, it is absolutely crucial that the enemy team has no Anticipation monsters, or anything to interrupt this chain of attacks. Only use 2 Strength 1 Speed if you can give them Stamina Mutations, as the sequence of moves combined exceeds 140 Stamina. You will need to use 1 Speed1 Strength 1 Stamina otherwise.
This set doesn't change at Rank 4, so it won't be mentioned there.

Rank4: Gorg learns "Harpoon Gatling Gun" at this level, a Base 45 Water AOE move that removes all buffs from all enemies before dealing damage, and Stuns all enemies after damage.

Build Explanation:
Harpoon Gatling Gun's power is extremely great, as it's not only Gorg's highest damage AOE, but it also gets rid of pesky buffs like Evasion and all kinds of Shields before dealing damage. The choice in the last slot is almost always Underwater Bamboozle, but Start With A Bang can be used alongside Whale Expert if there is a Sea monster that you absolutely must take out without wasting a turn on Blunt Harpoon, or if a Dodge Area monster is present.

(Denier)

Build Explanation:
At first glance, using a monster with so much damage potential as a denier might seem like a bad idea, but Gorg has the power to become one of the most powerful deniers in the game. The sole purpose of Whale Expert in this moveset is for the Precision and extra turn it grants, and Harpoon Gatling Gun is your obligatory AOE deny move. Start With A Bang is essential to have your other 2 CD extra move alongside Whale Hunter. The last slot is dedicated to Blunt Harpoon to have a single target version of Harpoon Gatling Gun, in the event that there is a Dodge Area monster on the enemy team. The game plan is as follows: use Whale Hunter to get Precision and follow it up with Harpoon Gatling Gun; because of the Precision, the move will certainly land on all enemies, and it will Stun them regardless of their Hardened variants (excluding Bulwark someties) since Precision will patch up the accuracy reduction. The next time you get a turn, use Start With A Bang, followed by Whale Hunter again, followed by Harpoon Gatling Gun - the beauty of this combo lies in the fact that HGG removes buffs before dealing damage and Stuns after this buff removal occurs, meaning the Recently Stunned buff gets removed before the Stun is applied, allowing Gorg to keep on using this sequence of moves (Start With A Bang - Whale Hunter - Harpoon Gatling Gun) to Stun enemies for as long as his Stamina lasts!
3 Speed is needed on a denier, and the Mutations this time around focus on Stamina to keep his combo going for as long as possible.

Teammate Options: For Denier and Extra Turn Spammer Gorgs, having a Trait Removing monster, like Mirak, is helpful to get rid of Anticipation monsters. For more Teammate options, check out this article.

Countering Gorg: Gorg's weak spot is his lack of Control Immunity besides Freeze and bad matchup against Anticipation monsters, so capitalize on this. Warmaster Gortak gives his team Stun Immunity, almost completely countering his denier variant. For more Counter options, check out this article.
