Hello everyone and welcome to my 219th analysis, this time featuring Warmaster Remntar.
Overview: Remntar has awesome Base Speed and Life stats alongside a great Base Strength stat. Not only this, but Remntar's trait is one of the strongest among all Warmasters: it gives him Tough, has an Area Skill Mirror SC, and most importantly, gives all allies immunity to Special damage as a trait, so it can't be removed by buff removal. Him moveset, while not featuring insanely powerful debuffs like Thalassa or Ragnarok, has very useful effects in it such as buff removal, Skill Mirror and giving an ally Anticipation. All of these combined make Warmaster Remntar a very strong monster that isn't overpowered.
Builds:
Monsters that have access to Group 4 skills will have a slightly different build path. I will list the most viable builds for each Rank since some moves in Group 4 are pivotal to some sets' success. The monster's role will likely remain the same, however, so this won't be exhaustingly long as I won't repeat the same things.
Rank0:
Moves:
-Solar Storm
-Photon Bombardment
-Hard Light Fortress
-Speed Of Light/Solar Sail
Runes: 2 Strength 1 Speed/3 Team Speed
Mutant Rune options: Strength&Life, Speed&Life, Team Speed&Team Life
Relics: Shields and Banners
Build Explanation:
Solar Storm has a respectable 60 Base Power, is unresisted, and gives the team Stamina Regeneration, which helps against Stamina Drain Relics and monsters who drain Stamina. Photon Bombardment isn't too impressive, but a 50% Stun on all enemies is not that bad when considered apart from other deny moves. Hard Light Fortress has an okay 50 Base Power and gives the team a 50% Shield for 2 turns, improving survivability and repelling Torture effects. Lastly, Speed Of Light gives Remntar another turn of Skill Mirror whereas Solar Sail is free Stamina for the entire team.
2 Strength 1 Speed is good to make him hit hard, but 3 Team Speed is a perfect fit on Remntar as well. Life Mutations are the best picks for all of his spreads since he has no use for bonus Stamina.
Rank1: Remntar learns "Light Tamer" at this level, a move that gives an ally Anticipation, Damage Boost and Precision.
Moves:
-Solar Storm
-Photon Bombardment
-Hard Light Fortress
-Light Tamer
Runes: 2 Speed 1 Strength/rest is the same
Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
With Light Tamer, Remntar can start doing some spicy things. His Speed tier makes it so that he's generally going to be faster than opposing turns spammer attackers, so you can disrupt them by giving a powerful monster Anticipation in addition to Remntar thanks to his Skill Mirror - this will only work if the target hasn't moved yet.
An alternate spread of 2 Speed 1 Strength starts becoming viable at this point. You can use a slower attacker together with Remntar, or any slower monster in general, and give them Light Tamer to greatly strengthen them, while outspeeding any 1 Speed monster the enemy might have, in addition to most 2 Speed monsters thanks to Remntar's great Speed.
Rank2: Remntar learns "Grinding Stones" at this level, a Base 70 unresisted single target attack that removes all buffs from all enemies and applies Nanovirus to them before dealing damage.
Moves:
-Light Tamer
-Grinding Stones
-Photon Bombardment
-Solar Storm/Hard Light Fortress
Runes: 3 Speed/rest is the same
Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
Grinding Stones is one of the most powerful single target attacks in the game, not only boasting a massive unresisted 70 Base Power, but also removing all buffs and applying Nanovirus to prevent newer ones from being applied - to all enemies. With a Strength oriented build, this move will be like a nuke to the target, and if you give Remntar Anticipation through Light Tamer, you can one shot the target in addition to removing valuable buffs. Even if not backed up by Strength, the non-damage portion of the attack will devastate most enemy teams. The choice between Solar Storm and Hard Light Fortress depends on the enemy team - Solar Storm is better against Stamina Drainers whereas Hard Light Fortres is useful against Torture-heavy teams and monsters with high firepower.
3 Speed, albeit situational, can put in great work against Team Evasion or Mega Taunt casters by targeting them with Grinding Stones. By using a denier slower than Remntar (an easy task) you can safely deny the enemy team.
Rank3: Remntar learns "Light of Quasar" at this level, a Base 30 Metal AOE move that gives Remntar's team Control Immunity.
("Slow" Remntar)
Moves:
-Light Tamer
-Grinding Stones
-Photon Bombardment/Hard Light Fortress
-Light Of Quasar/Hard Light Fortress
Runes: 2 Strength 1 Speed/2 Speed 1 Strength/3 Team Speed
Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
Starting at Rank 3, Slow and Fast Remntars have a slightly different moveset in that differs in their preferences. This one might run Light Of Quasar as a generally useful move and as an AOE attack, but could use Hard Light Fortress over it the LOQ doesn't seem like it won't put in much work, especially considering how easy it is to work around a Control Immunity buff.
All the non-3 Speed builds are dumped into this set, which makes Remntar not as fast as possible, hence the name of the set (in quotations due to Remntar's natural Speed being so high).
(Fast Remntar)
Moves:
-Light Tamer
-Light Of Quasar
-Grinding Stones
-Photon Bombardment/Hard Light Fortress
Runes: 3 Speed
Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
This Remntar is a faster variant that must run Light Of Quasar to foil the enemy denier's attempts at denying, or give an ally Light Tamer to counter opposing extra turn spammers or turn transfers. Other than the Rune choice and the guaranteed presence of LOQ, the set is the same as Slow Remntar build-wise.
Rank4: Remntar learns "Dimension Paradox" at this level, a Base 40 unresisted AOE move that gives the team Skill Mirror.
("Slow" Remntar)
Moves:
-Grinding Stones
-Dimension Paradox
-Light Tamer
-Hard Light Fortress/Light Of Quasar/Photon Bombardment
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
Dimension Paradox works perfectly with a slower build to refresh the Skill Mirrors on the monsters that went before Remntar. Not only this, but the move has a very usable 40 Base Power while also being unresisted, so it will surely hurt enemies if Remntar has Strength Runes. The last slot depends on both team comps, but LOQ will mostly be favored.
(Fast Remntar)
Moves:
-Grinding Stones
-Dimension Paradox
-Light Tamer
-Light Of Quasar
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as given above.
Build Explanation:
Almost the same moveset as Slow Remntar, game plan is the same as Rank 3 Fast Remntar.
Teammate Options: Here is the most important aspect of Remntar and the part that will determine his power. Try abusing the Skill Mirror he casts at the beginning of battle: use things like turn transfers or Self skills like Osteoclast's Bone Shell to get their effects twice - even Remntar himself does this with Light Tamer. A notorious pair I'm essentially forced to mention is made of Remntar with Nox the Condemned: the latter's Total Obliteration is Special-based, so it will do no damage to your team. What's even more insane is that Abducted Soul is a Special based move, so it will not actually kill the target thanks to Remntar's trait, giving the target Double Damage and an extra turn, and you can give Nox 2 turns by targeting himself! With his Special Immunity and Hard Light Fortress, Remntar naturally fits great in teams with tanks. For more Teammate options, check out this article.
Countering Warmaster Remntar: You will quickly realize after battling against Remntar a couple of times that the Special Immunity is way more troublesome than any other part of his trait. Try disabling it or using non-Special moves, but while the former is uncommon, the latter is easier said than done. Removing his buffs is a good start to cut down a large portion of his presence.
