Hello everyone and welcome to my 232nd analysis, this time featuring Faraday the Obscure.
Overview: Combining Tough with Anticipation along with a fantastic Base Strength, Faraday is among the most notable attackers in the game. He has access to Sunburn and moves with high Base Power and given the abundance of extra turns in the game, this guy is going to be dishing out a lot of damage most of the time. This form is the fastest and strongest of the three, but he lacks in the deny department when compared to the other two, which is a problem if you're trying to interrupt extra turn passing. Still, he is the best Torturer of the three, and he's good at softening up attackers. Faraday's problems are your typical attacker's problems, but he does wish he had a better Speed stat.

Builds:
Monsters that have access to Group 4 skills will have a slightly different build path. I will list the most viable builds for each Rank since some moves in Group 4 are pivotal to some sets' success. The monster's role will likely remain the same, however, so this won't be exhaustingly long as I won't repeat the same things.

Rank0:
Moves:
-Sinister Belt
-Disconforting Bask
-Stamina Expel
-Shiny Agony
Runes: 2 Strength 1 Speed
Mutant Rune options: Strength&Life, Speed&Life
Relics: Traps and Swords

Build Explanation:
Sinister Belt is Obscure's strongest move that also applies Poison and Bleeding to the target, which is useful for quickly wearing them down. Disconforting Bask is an AOE Sunburn with 40 Base Power. Stamina Expel and Shiny Agony are mostly filler attacks since they're the only useful moves available to him at this point.
2 Strength 1 Speed with Life Mutations is the standard Rune spread for an attacker.

Rank1: Obscure learns "Stamina Void" at this level, a Base 65 unresisted move that removes 30% Stamina from its target.
Moves:
-Sinister Belt
-Disconforting Bask
-Stamina Expel
-Stamina Void
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as given above.

Build Explanation:
Stamina Void is a stronger Stamina Expel with the same Base Power as Sinister Belt, and it replaces the somewhat useless Shiny Agony to ease Obscure's need for good moves.

Rank2: Obscure learns "Shining Fever" at this level, a Base 55 Thunder move that applies Burn and Sunburn to the target.
Moves:
-Sinister Belt
-Disconforting Bask
-Shining Fever
-Stamina Void
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as given above.

Build Explanation:
Shining Fever can stack up damage really fast, plus the minor Precision drop it offers can be helpful in times. These Tortures, along with Poison and Bleeding, allow Faraday to wear down enemies alarmingly fast.

Rank3: Obscure learns "Infamous Whip" at this level, a Base 45 Dark AOE that applies Bleeding and Poison to all enemies.
Moves:
-Sinister Belt/Infamous Whip
-Disconforting Bask/Infamous Whip
-Shining Fever/Infamous Whip
-Stamina Void/Infamous Whip
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as given above.

Build Explanation:
Infamous Whip is the strongest AOE any Faraday has access to, both in terms of Base Power and the damage of the Tortures it applies. This is a move you shouldn't skip, so pick it in any of your previous 4 moves.

Countering Faraday the Obscure: If you are trying to use extra turns against him, applying a control effect on him beforehand is useful, since this will render his turn null. For more Counter options, check out this article.
