Anyone else not interested at all in these? Don't get me wrong they are fun but now that the only way to access them is 20 gems I'm not bothered any more. Unless there is easier access its just another part of the game off wasted. At least with basic duels you could win tokens for grand but SP have taken them away

I hope Classic Duels will be back, maybe they're not as rewarding as Grand Duels are, but they're certainly more "doable" than Grand Duels due to their cost and the reason already mentioned above. These Live Duels are a refreshing fun feature of the game, I think some changes should be considered

@bellatrix I agree. The duels were one of the best changes in a long time. now they aren't as accessible its like they were dangled in front of us and then taken away

I have played A LOT of Live Duels, and I can just say one thing: it really showcases the broken combat system in this game.
Speed is everything in this cancerfest, and the goal is to grab as many monsters as possible with single target and/or AOE deny effects... A denier receives 3 Speed while the others, not caring about what roles they might have, get 3 Team Speed to pump up Speed even farther. Attackers aren't necessary, damage is dealt almost solely by ridiculous Torture stacking that kills monsters in 2 turns while they have an obscene amount of debuffs on them. Precision modifiers are also busted, as they make the format luck reliant - you might as well call Saika's Photokeratitis and Bake Eyes just plain Mega deny effects, because I guarantee that you WILL NOT land any attacks while afflicted by Blind, Daze and Sunburn. CD Activation, for the most part, is also a Mega deny effect since most monsters' most useful attacks have at least 1 turn of CD.
The "all or nothing" nature of battles does not mesh well at all with random elements of luck - missed the Possession against Patient Cyber? Whoops, you suddeny turned from stopping that monster to doing absolutely nothing to it at all while wasting a turn. Got 3 Speed on Storm Beard and 6 Team Speed on your team in total? Too bad, opponent has Nabuline with 3 Speed and 6 Team Speed by her side, and you will never outspeed that monster, and you will always get Stone Coffin'd. Prepare for a deluge of Tortures along the way too.
Maybe having lower tier monsters instead of top tier ones will help, because here every role is mixed together, with deniers having powerful Tortures, attackers having deny moves, so on and so forth. If roles were more clearly defined and status effects weren't so gamebreaking, this format would be more enjoyable, and players would have more wiggle room to experiment and make up for mistakes or bad luck.
How to Rune monsters, which monsters use which Runes, etc.
