Hello everyone and welcome to my 270th analysis, this time featuring Marquis de Flambe.
Overview: Marquis is at an elite power level that all attackers try to match, and for good reason. His Base Stats are all incredible, giving him enough Speed to outspeed most attackers, enough Strength to deal very high damage when combined with high Base Powered moves, and enough Life to take an attack or two. Marquis is among the most notorious Anticipation users thanks to his massive damage output and powerful debuffs. Hardened is a cherry on top for Marquis, giving him a chance to evade status effects.
-Everybody Loves Le Crapaud
-All Against One
-Poison For Constance/Milady's Favor
Runes: 2 Strength 1 Speed/3 Strength
Mutant Rune options: Strength&Life, Speed&Life
Relics: Swords and Traps
Everybody Loves Le Crapaud has a solid 60 Base Power and it applies Stun twice to its target, helping it bypass Hardened variants. En Garde! has a massive 70 Base Power with an added Ignite, and it Blinds the target to ensure it struggles should it survive the assault. All Against One might have low Base Power, but the Burn and Sunburn it applies more than makes up for this, also making it a valuable move for Torture teams. Lastly, Poison for Constance adds to Marquis' arsenal of Tortures with a Poison, plus it has a good Base Power of 40 and is unresisted. An option over it is Milady's Favor, which can be used to not fall prey to CD Activation. You can Blind important enemies with it to hopefully cause them to miss their attacks.
2 Strength 1 Speed with Life Mutations is the standard for attackers, but thanks to Anticipation and a very good Base Speed, Marquis can afford to run 3 Strength to make enemies even more wary of using extra turn attacks.
Teammate Options: As mentioned before, Marquis can be used in Torture teams and he brings the valuable Anticipation to the table. You can pair him up with Mega Taunt or Taunt monsters to prevent enemies from disabling his trait easily. For more Teammate options, check out this article.
Countering Marquis de Flambe: Disabling Marquis' trait removes much of his threatening presence, but he can still deal colossal damage so be aware of that. Devastress is faster, and can apply Total Blind to him that's assisted by Pierce, which Marquis can do nothing against. For more Counter options, check out this article.
