If I have 0 orbs for any particular dragon, I cannot start a trade requesting those orbs, even if I already own the dragon, but if I already own 1 or more orbs I can initiate the trade request, even if I don't own the dragon in question.

Is this a bug or a feature and can it be resolved so I can start a trade request and thus enable me to empower my dragon please?!

This is how trading is meant to work. You need to communicate with your alliance members. Someone else will need to start the first trade for you to get the orbs, then you can trade as normal.

No it isn't and personally I think it should stay as it is. As Susan stated someone else would need to start it.

How is it not stupid if I can't start a trade request for the orbs that I need?

I literally need to go now and find someone who has the orbs by asking in the alliance chat AND get THEM to start the trade request which costs THEM the extra trade essences. (because for some reason it costs 2 essences to propose a trade but only 1 to fulfil one.)

Would it not just be easier if I could make the trade request myself?

I think most good alliances already use chat frequently, mainly for this purpose.
To implement your idea, you would need to have all 1200+ dragons to be shown as an option. That is a ridiculous number to have to trawl through.
And I would think that a fair player would reciprocate the trade, so that you would offer the same trade back to the player that started the first trade, that way you both spend 3 essences for the 2 trades.
This feature isn't broken and doesn't need fixing. You just need a good alliance and communication for it to work well.

@hazzardous I don't play dragon city but in monster legends, my team lead would make sure we can craft the monster after donating then add an extra cell on top so after crafting or ranking we could request more later on. As the people above already said communication is key
