This game app has now turned to Ad City....I open the app, like a dozen pop ups needs to be closed. Then when I click on something and return back to the city, A RANDOM ad video plays and often times It doesn’t give me the option to skip it... forcing me to watch all of it. During events on iOS, when I change a breeding to terra/terra, the app automatically closes so I have to reopen it and repeat the ad cycle all over again.... a dozen ads pop up and a random ad will play...... yes, I have contacted them about the random ad before with no reply, which just seem like it’s their intent and not a glitch.

Post count: 12351Reputation: 7500Joined:Location: New Jersey, USAHmmm I get what you mean about the startup popups and yeah sometimes it is more than 10. Very, very annoying. However I have yet to encounter the issue with the random ads that you are describing and that is with me playing several different accounts. I believe someone once told me you can get rid of them once you make your first purchase. I do not know if that is why they disappeared for me or not. Sadly your title is kind of wrong, these ads and popups have been ongoing for years so what makes this not DC anymore?? And on a side note this seems to be the leading trend in app games these days. I have quit some of my time killer games just from this behavior alone and none of the games I still play are without these ads, the gaming companies must be getting a lot of money from these ad companies since all of them employ them in one way or another.

Post count: 1005Reputation: 764Joined:@nynaevelan all games have ads but as you know, i get my gems from tasks so you know i play a lot of apps.... the ads on those are not random but conditional . The random ads that pop without any actions on my part... it repeats on ever restart and app crash, and as i stated earlier, when i fo a new terra/terra breeding, the app crashes and the add scenario starts all over. The fact that the random ad will just pop is in poor taste.... it wasnt there last year, they started minths aho but bavk then you get the option to skip.... they changed that to often times you can’t skip. Note that i didnt ding freebie island.....because freebie island is optional and no ads will play unless i click in it, plus it is a reward system.

Post count: 1005Reputation: 764Joined:@nynaevelan the random ads are on android too but i mostly play on iOS now. The crashes on android are not on breeding but are more frequent and random... dragon city was never android friendly for me especially freebie island videos, both phone and simulators . No purchases.

I think that is your issue right there, I heard that in DC as well as in other games f2p players are hit with many more ads than those who have made purchases. @Bettina-Löffler might be able to help you more with this as I believe she is strictly f2p. Sorry none of my accounts are f2p, I have made at least 1 purchase on all of them just to avoid those random popups.

Post count: 7494Reputation: 4132Joined:Location: Germany@michael-lon As far as I know some players have the bug that ads pop up in fights or when doing other actions where they should not pop up. And as far as I know this is not intended. So in this case only the support can help.

Post count: 197Reputation: 77Joined:I used to have this issue a lot, but that was a long time ago. Even a 1 dollar purchase will disable ads if they bother you a lot. I’d suggest filling the piggy bank to 120 or getting the marvel island if you’re low on space. If you aren’t keen to make a purchase, that’s fine too. The way I see it, you either pay for the game in ad revenue or pay in direct cash. Paying money just to disable ads isn’t pleasant, but SP has to pay the artists and programmers somehow.

Post count: 106Reputation: 30Joined:I don't think it's a glitch. You have to make a purchase to stop this. I got it on my son account and my own account. After purchase it was still happening. Got to wait to weeks to get a solution from support.
That will stop ad starting at any time. but the dozen of DC ad at beginning will remain...

I think it is a glitch because I never had it. And I know many players that don`t have it.

Post count: 106Reputation: 30Joined:@bettina-löffler A glitch is a short-lived fault in a system, such as a transient fault that corrects itself, making it difficult to troubleshoot. The term is particularly common in the computing and electronics industries, in circuit bending, as well as among players of video games. More generally, all types of systems including human organizations and nature experience glitches.
A glitch, which is slight and often temporary, differs from a more serious bug which is a genuine functionality-breaking problem
According to Wikipedia this can't be a glitch. Someone wrote the code that start the ad (only focused on playing ads you won't see anymore once you made a purchase). So this code is here to push you to pay. That's a deliberately annoying function, not a glitch.

I disagree with your first statement. The life expectancy of the "glitch" will depend if the developer has taken some action to correct or remove the glitch. SP is known to know about long term glitches and bugs but do not take action on them because they label them as low priority issues, instead focusing on more high priority issues. This is what I think the case is with this glitch. If not enough players are reporting it then they will not be rushing to fix it. Sadly since a purchase fixes this issue for many players I am sure they are either not reporting it or the purchase is fixing the issue for them.

Post count: 106Reputation: 30Joined:@nynaevelan First statement is the wikipedia definition of a glitch, not mine. A glitch is unpredictable. How do you explain that something that is unpredictable stops when doing a purchase? As IT engineer I love rational and logic analysis. My thought is that is can be a bug, at least I'm okay to let them the benefit of the doubt.

I can understand that specially if a "bug" bring them money -

But from the past 30 years that I have been working, most of my co workers uses Wikipedia and they usually don't find fault on their information.
Besides, an IT terminology description by industry is accepted by most organizations. It is for that reason that certifications by industries like ITIL are accepted as best practice and the proper TERMINOLOGY description.
PS: maybe it is not a GLITCH at all but INTENTIONAL aspects of the game so that you do make a purchased. Brings back to original feedback that it's not DC anymore.
