Hello everyone and welcome to my 75th analysis, this time featuring Barbatos.
Barbatos is notorious among all monsters thanks to his absurdly powerful attacks with 100 Accuracy, and quite possibly the best Self move ever invented, and these two moves alone put him in a whole other league than most attackers. However, despite all these awesome moves, Barbatos' AOE is not the best one around, his Speed is low and his high damage moves deal damage to him. Still, Barbatos remains as one of the most powerful attackers to exist.
-Master of Pain
-Corrupted Laceration/Devil Form
Runes: 2 Speed 1 Strength
Master of Pain deals explosive amounts of damage to a single enemy, which kills the target most of the time at the expense of 30% of his maximum Life. Blood Covenant gives him Double Damage, an extra turn and Stamina Regen, but this skill drains 20% of Barbatos' CURRENT Life for 2 turns-the reason why I wrote current in all capitals is because unlike Master of Pain, this move won't kill you since it drains Life based on the current amount(at 2000 Life it'll drain 400, at 50000 Life it'll drain 10000 Life etc.). Hellfire is the obligatory AOE, plus it's unresisted and it Burns all enemies. Corrupted Laceration is chosen in the last slot to have a move that doesn't kill you. Devil Form may be worth considering even with Blood Covenant's presence since the two moves can be alternately used like VoltaiK's Static Shocks and 20k Volts to possibly fish for your special attack, though the use is limited due to the Life drain and it's situational. 2 Speed 1 Strength is used to outspeed most attackers and only 1 Strength is necessary thanks to Blood Covenant and Master of Pain.
Teammates: Healers are considered to be very good partners since they'll heal off the damage Barbatos does to himself. General Ingvar deserves special mention thanks to his ability to remove Blood Covenant's Life drain debuff, plus he can greatly lenghten the Blood Covenant+Devil Form chain if you are using it, and he increases Hellfire's damage. Nishant's Pet's Debilitating Shadows allows Master of Pain to kill literally anything who doesn't have immunities or big Shields.
Countering Barbatos: Himass, if he wins the speed tie, renders Master of Pain completely useless thanks to his Invincible Pirate combo. Timerion does the same thing with Space-Time, though he saves your team in general this way. Denying Barbatos is not hard thanks to his low Speed, and it'll render him harmless, but don't use Possession as the deny method since Blood Covenant is a Self move.
