Jumping ahead a bit...
I've not wanted to spend gems on the heroic quests after a race but I'm a little tempted this time.
I found a few posts that @Nynaevelan wrote on a recent race's thread as follows
"
Here are the levels needed to complete the two heroic quests, for quest 1 it is 60 gems to skip and 90 gems for the second. Both have a 6 hour cool down period between stages:
Q1 -
1 - 15
2 - 17
3 - 19
4 - 21
5 - 23
6 - 25
7 - 26
8 - 27
9 - 28
10 - 29
11 - 30
Q2 -
1 - 30
2 - 32/31
3 - 34/32
4 - 36/33
5 - 38/34
6 - 40/35
7 - 41/36
8 - 42/37
9 - 43/38
10 - 44/39
11 - 45/40
To spend as little as possible you will need to calculate the time needed to finish the second one without using gems. To get there you will need to spend gems to rush the empowerment of the first one, so it is going to cost you at least 56 gems. You will need at least 24 hours to finish the last 4 stages of quest 2 without gems. So that means it comes down to how much cushion time you are going to give yourself to determine how much you will spend to get quest 1 done. Since quest 1 is cheaper then it is best to pay for the speedups on quest 1 than it is for quest 2. If my calculations are correct for me I plan to spend to speed up the last 3 fights of quest 1 which means this one will cost me 180 for speed ups, 56 to empower and 14 for the hatching, which is the 250 you calculated. That calculates down to less than a gem per orbs which is A LOT cheaper then they are to buy them on offer or during orb sales.

Assuming they don't change anything of course.
But what I don't remember reading is how many orbs we get and of what dragons (just heroic or legendary too) if we complete the quests. Can anyone remind me?
