To get any reward you have to finish lap 4 to qualify. If you win and reach lap 15 you will still only get one heroic dragon when the race ends.

Timed rewards:
Lap 8 > 9: 30 Rogue orbs x2 (6hrs)
Lap 13 > 14: Heroic orbs chest x2 (8hrs)
Lap 16 > 17: 120 Rogue orbs x2 (8hrs)

Is making it to lap 15 the correct goal for today if I want to finish the entire race? Or do I need to get further than that?

This is "my race" from my alliance. Others in the alliance are sending me 600+ orbs of the H and L featured dragons, in exchange for me sending the same to them from their races. So I want to make sure I maximize what I get in this one.

@jgb you want the mindset of doing laps 20-30 a one lap a day because they take the longest, thus more expensive.... laps 1-15 are the cheapest to get through gem wise. I believe the pool time in laps 2 doesn’t start until lap 14. (In too lazy to check)

I have not reviewed rewards yet or thought about what lap I want to aim for before the race ends but I do know I want to put in a strong effort to get to lap 15 by Monday morning, just because I do not want to be married to my tablet for the next 11 days. Which means this race I will end spending more than I normally do in a race but I want some rest time so I need to zoom around that track to get it.

They are giving a lot of the legend orbs this time around and trading essences is on lap 12 this time.......

@michael-lon I'm not sure if you think that lap 15 is enough then, or if you're saying I should push to go further.

My thought was to get ready to start the timed laps for 16 and 17 in the morning, prep 18 so that I can do 19 and 20 the next morning, and then go from there.

Do you think it's better for me to gem lower laps haphazardly with a goal of finishing in the later parts of 18 by the end of the night?

Different topic: Once again, SP gave us the first reward (pure essence) in the calendar before tge respective event started. The essence is sitting in my storage and the event progress shoes zero essences. I assume this is the same for everyone, and SP will probably „gift“ us a new essence at some point?

Can somebody tell me whats the avarage amount of gems that you consider okay spending on this event? That said, I only have a little more than 300 gems and I have no clue where to spend them or on what, or even how much... this is my first race.

It depends on how far you are trying to get. This time, I'm trying to do the whole thing. That means, to me, that I need to have on the order of 3k gems ready to devote, along with a smathering of some extras.

Most of the time, I target getting to the Titan Egg or to lap 21. For those times, 500 gems is plenty. I haven't tracked too closely, but there have been times that things went well and I spent way less than that.

If you're just trying to get to lap 15, then 300 should be way more than you need. 100-150 is often enough. Sometimes you can do it on less than that.

It would mostly go toward:

1. Finishing off the last few items for a task that you almost completed but are in cooldown on
2. Speeding up fights that have an 80 minute wait after you've waited 20 minutes (and the cost drops by half)
3. Buying spins for tasks that are just too long to wait out the cooldown.

Only made it to lap 12 on day 1. Spent 560 in gems.

Goal for day 2 is to complete laps 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and most of lap 18. I want to start the timed lap of lap 19 first thing tomorrow morning.

I think I might not do anything for this race because I don't really need the High Whisperer Dragon since I recently got High Comet and I have a good feeling about the heroic race in March if there is one.

@jgb sorry for the late reply... have been chilling all day yesterday and not really into this race.........

yes. I was frivolous on gems with early laps because it’s cheap. You go 15 laps day one... then day 2, you try to finish 16-19 since 2-3 of those laps are usually timed laps. If the last fight is a 40 minute wait, spend the 3 gems to skip it. Time is the enemy. If you got 6 fights, pay 4 gems per fight to skip the hour to save 5-6 hours. For a mere 20 gems you save half your day.

If you have 4-5 league fights. Look at the cost to skip them all if you are in between cooldowns. If you spend 20 gems and gamble on the spin and the result is only 1 or 2 , will the remaining 3 fights be cheap enough to skip or is it cheaper to spend the 16 gems to speed up the league cooldown. Or has the timer gone down enough that it only costs 6 gems to speed up the league cooldown.

Then lap 20 is also a timed lap, so you’ll finish that early and end up with almost two laps in day 3.... after that, you have 8 days to finish 8 laps (22-29).... and again, one of those laps is timed so you’ll end up doing more than one lap to average out the slower laps.

You will find that gem wise 20-29 are disgustingly expensive because the pool times are on gold/food/feed.... and the pool time are disgustingly long. Goal must be to always reach the late part of node 5 before going to bed so the pool time runs while you’re sleeping and you can finish the minute you log on the next day and start the new lap. Expect to spend a couple of hundred gems on these kind of nodes when you get really bad spins.

Hi. Can anyone confirm 26 to me. Is it one random skin only or one random and the 4 at the bottom of the list written differently? Thanks.

@great-unknown from my previous 2 times i got those, you get only one random skin. I’m guessing whoever updated the prize was too lazy to check cause those 4 are the newest 4 skins.... but hey, who knows. Maybe they made a mistake there as well and it might give you those four plus one random..... SP is known for being sloppy.

I finished day 2 in the middle of Lap 17. Slept 4 hours, then woke up and finished it within the 8 hour timeframe. I'm now in the midst of lap 19.

I have spent around 2.5k in gems so far. I don't know how front-loaded the gem-spending is supposed to be for this, but I'm sure that I have spent more than I needed to in getting to this point. There was a good 4 to 6 hours that I lost yesterday due to snow shoveling, running errands, and getting a covid test (as required for a procedure I am having next week).

With the changes we're seeing in breeding success rates, I want to make sure I make it this time, and have been doing a lot of spending to help that. I still have 6k gems available, but I'm hoping to keep the rest of my spending to 1.5k or so if possible. I want to be able to buy another 100M of food and to dominate a maze if a good one comes along.

@jgb when you get to the one lap a day part, it’ll get cheaper cause you won’t be chasing anymore. One lap a day and stopping at node 5 let’s you utilize the free spin and pool times, thus minimizing paying 30 gems per free spin.

If a pool time for food on, let’s say a node 3, is like 8 hours for gold or food, then i usually save my free spin on those nodes by looking ahead. If i get a bad spin, then i let 4 hours Pass to get half the items and see what’s cheaper... paying 40-60 gems to get the remaining 5-10 items, or gamble several times on the spins ?

When using the spins, it’s usually a good idea on multiple tasks involving food/gold/feed to close out one. For example. If you have gold and hatch on a node and a free spin, it’s better to pay gem out the remaining hatch/hatches before spinning. If you have 2 hatches left and like 30 gold left, then wait out the pool time for one more hatch, gem out the last one, collect the gold during that pool time. That way, when you spin, it will only target the gold so that if you land on skip one task, it doesn’t accidentally target the hatch which you could have bought for 3 gems , instead of the remaining gold task which costs a few hundred gems to clear out.

On lap 22 now. I'm having to consciously tell myself not to spend gems just because I reached a cooldown. The last three days have programmed me to believe cooldown don't really exist.

@jgb you’re right on pace. Very nice. Assuming you will do the timed lap for the heroic orbs, that will give you an extra day to prepare for the two laps, which have ridiculous pool times, like almost a day and a half pool time per lap.

All I’m going for is lap 15 for the heroic because I have the other three dragons and they are already level 40.

I’m glad I had low plans ‘cause never going to catch first place. They are already a lap and a half ahead of me. I love reading the tactics of the racers though! I’m impressed with your perseverance. I can barely keep up with two events happening at the same time. I miss the days of one event at a time, maybe even a day off to grow food in between!

My goal was to get to lap 15 by Monday...I didn't make it but I did make it to 13.5 so I should be able to coast it to lap 17 or so by the end. If I do not decide to quit since I am only aiming for lap 15. I have come to realize and accept that I do not have it in me to do the crazy spending and speeding to get past lap 18.

The waiting time for items start once you collected one item. BUT it resets to zero each time you collect an item. So the total wait time (if you collect until the pool is empty) starts after you collected the last item.

Just barely getting out of lap 10 and not even doing the race yet on my alts. The races just seem not worth it when they diminish the prizes and increase the difficulty. I’m sitting on 11k gems and i rather just waste them on empowering a titan or vampire or heroic and that will only take me ten minutes to do, instead of wasting my time (11 days) on the same old prizes.

I mean just look at lap 10 prize... the amulet. Getting to lap 10 is semi difficult. For that amulet to even be relevant on the big event, you need 100 of the other items which probably 99% of the players will not get.... so you basically get all the way to lap 10 with your precious time to get nothing for your trouble. Why not include food with the amulet.

And of course, the old argument of lap 15... only getting one heroic if you win the race..... so what’s the point in winning? At least add another prize in addition to a guaranteed heroic even if you only get one. Lap 15 is hard to reach. At least throw in some food/gems there.

@michael-lon i agree with your ideas on laps 10 and 15. But knowing them they would add a small food chest which is 100k of food, not even worth clicking to open the chest. And while thinking about the chest why do we need to do so many clicks to open a chest?

@nynaevelan then they should do a “winner’s chest”. They seem okay with giving essences/joker orbs/gems when you get like a certain amount of items in an event. They should go with that format. Guaranteed 2 items of let’s say, legendary joker orb/essences/gems, plus the another prize of heroic or heroic joker orbs... by which if you reach lap 15 or already have the heroic in the race, it defaults to the other prize.

I'm about to his lap 13 and planning the timing. I am specifically waiting and didn't speed up some of the battles at the end of lap 12 because that would have put me at the end of 8 hour time limit of lap 13 during a busy time of the day and it would suck to use gems and the spin to get through the lap in the desired time limit just to miss it because I was to busy to check in on the game.

I'm also comfortably in first so I'm not worried about that, either.

I have used about 50 gems so far - I got a ton of gems by completing a task so I'm sitting pretty there and trying to strategize for the future. About 15 gems used due to poor planning so gotta work in that!

On the timed lap 24 currently. Spent 3.6k gems so far. Expecting to get near the end of lap 25 tonight.

Man, I agree with @Bettina-Löffler - that's a LOT of gems! I am comfortably in first by a few laps and do not want to see the day I end up in a race with a big spender!

Lap 13 was good to me - I started with 4 eggs ready to hatch but just hatched the 2 War dragons (still works great to get the item from hatching but middling for getting the item from breeding) and had given myself an hour to get through this node and with about 5 minutes left, I had gotten the other 8 items from hatching so didn't need to use the other two that were ready to go. I was planning to use spin on node 4 but wanted some eggs and breedings ready just in case.

Node 2 went as expected. I wasn't in a place to finish a level in the league so already knew I would use the 6 gems here to bypass that wait.

Gold is always an issue for me but after about 3 hours, I just needed one more item I hemmed and hawed over waiting and THOUGHT it would just be another 8 minutes but didn't want to risk it so for one gem I finished that node. I also had to head out on the road and wanted to get to node 5 before that.

My spin was my first good one - got me 5 items so it took 3 hatching and 2 breeding. I hatched the other two eggs that had been waiting since the morning and finished breeding the one good one (not the two War dragon breeding dens, the one with a new dragon). Then spammed Terra for about a half hour. I completed all the hatching but had one breeding left and I had spent about 10 minutes trying to get the last one. I already knew I wasn't going to wait any pools here because that would screw up my ability to collect food. So, I used 5 gems to get past this node and got to node 5 with about 3.5 hrs left. I was thinking I was going to end up using much more so I am happy with that.

I only waited the 20 minutes to get under an hour for fight 2, 3, and 4, which put me in a perfect position to wait 1 hour 20 minutes to get to fight 5. Perfect because this is when I was busy with chores. Twenty minutes to get to fight 6. For food, I screwed up the pool a bit and forgot to set my timer so there I am with 10 minutes to go, harvesting 30 sec food and wondering when I'm going to get that LAST item. I was prepared to just skip the node but at 5 minutes I thought - harvest just one more time and BAM! got the item! So, skipped the last fight and finished the node and lap for 3 gems instead of 5.

In total, I used 36 gems to get through the lap in the time given and got 320 orbs for Light Titan. Since I already have Light Titan, he's off getting empowered now.

My gem count is sitting at about 86 now.

@tante laps 20-29 are a different animal. Basically, the pool times on the laps are about a day and a half each lap and most of the pool time tasks are food/ gold that has like crazy pool times. 3-4k gems is about right when trying to reach lap 30. For that price, he’s getting a lot of really amazing goodies.

150 heroic joker orbs alone costs 1200 gems
200 legendary joker orbs cost 800 orbs.
Heroic i think still costs 10 gems/orb... he’s getting 400 heroic orbs, so that’s 4k gems.
Titan orbs costs like 5 gems per orb last xmas... he’s getting 120 titan orbs which is 600 gems
A heroic egg... heroic dragons cost what nowadays? 700 gems?
2 heroic skins... exclusives and very cool IMO
200 gem rebate
Several million food
30 heroic essences
30 legendary essences
1k rainbow tokens
240 orbs of rogue... another 960 gems

And those are just the prizes from laps 20-29.... that’s easily worth over 10k gems. Add in the prizes from laps 1-19, spending around 4k gems is a bargain.

Lap 1-15 you can get away with not spending a gem if you take all of 11 days. As you’d notice, the lap dynamic changes on lap 14 when they start adding pool times on node 2. Lap 14 is the beginning of the hard laps. They knock that up another notch around lap 19 and gets really annoying. So trying to squeeze in 29 laps in 11 days with about 25-30 days worth of pool times requires a lot of gems.

@michael-lon Thanks for making that post. Seeing that breakdown made me feel better about spending all these gems, lol. There's a part of me that was starting to regret it after seeing so many fly away today.

@dragonista and as usual my chest was not so giving, I really think they penalize high level players with these chests.

@nynaevelan For once, I got the high-end of the rewards: 50/50/320.

On lap 27.1; apx 4.3k gems spent. The spending on the last lap was a lot less than the other recent laps, as I finally was able to wait out most of the lap and didn't need to use spins until finishing the final node this morning.
