I know there have been threads in the past, but I'm not interested in choice of monsters, but only in strategy. In fact, I'd love to have an "auto" button for PvP too, just to be able to watch random battles - just to see how my lineup performs if controlled by the computer.

Obviously life is different in lower tiers. If everybody has level 10 speed runes, the base speed of the denier is of fundamental importance. But where I live (down in silver), some players don't have any runes at all... So, how would you construct a defensive team with the aim to win, and not just to prolong the battle (Ouros/Igursus etc.)?

My current approach is to use two kind-of-deniers with one damage dealer. I use full speed Timerion (Cooldowns Activated, Stop Time, Space-Time, Looped Damage) and another pure denier (3 speed) , followed by VoltaiK (1 damage 2 stamina). As Denier I'd use Hackster with AoE stun and AoE hacking, but as I'm too lazy to switch defenses around if I want to use Hackster, and I use him a lot, so I currently use Krampus or Cavenfish. Obviously Thetys would be a good choice too, but I don't have her thanks to the team shop price insanity.

Obviously Timerion and $DENIER might get in each others way, but the idea behind this is simply that Timerion can't protect VoltaiK fully, so having a second denier with 2 AoE deny moves (a 50% shot to stop the attacker) increases the chance to get to him. The drawback of course is that I can't use team speed runes in this setup. (But again, the way runes are down where I live it's basically a 50-50 chance either way which denier is quicker.) An alternative would be to use two classic deniers (say Thetys and Hackster).

Thoughts? Would you prefer the classic Denier-Attacker-Support setup, and why? Note that my strategy might only be viable in a league where you can hope to for your deniers to hit first, despite middle-of-the-pack base speed.

Edit: In my setup, VoltaiK is a single point of failure of course. And if I get to higher leagues (currently my level 5 runes rule the silver area where I am), I might have to use a speed rune on VoltaiK too. But even if the enemy denier is quicker, there is a chance that Timerion gets me to a second round.

Before lvl IX and X runes became the norm at the top levels you would see many Voltaiks with a strength/strength/stamina set up.

Making him slow may even work quite well with Timerion because of Space Time and Looped Damage. As long as he is not doubled in speed, which is not likely to happen at your current level, I would not put a speed rune on him.

Difficult to comment on the rest of your post. A classic set up with Thetys full speed, Voltaik and a team speed slave would easily sweep it, but if such set ups hardly exist in your league, there of course is no need to worry about it.

@Frunobulax I agree with the double denier approach. Increasing your odds of shutting them down is a good approach. I currently don't have an attacker on defense and I am not sure if I should change that. It also who can you afford to put there and leave there, unless you buy into the idea that you will be swapping out monsters whenever you need one.

Way too cumbersome, all that swapping Boy do I hope that the senseless "can't use monster that is assigned to defense" restriction is lifted soon. Due to convenience I commit VoltaiK to defense, my offense is quite good with Hackster/Shallinar/Barbatos. I keep my fingers crossed for a second chance on Hackster, as I would love to rank him up later

What about Cavenfish , Faster than thetys and has 2 Aoe steun and 1 Aoe freez

Actually I use Cavenfish now
1 AoE stun and 1.5 AoE freeze (Cavenfishs Curse is 50% freeze for all targets) is very good. But Thetys' Stamina Devourers is AFAIK the only thing that works vs. Timerion, and there is no immunity against it.

"You will love me forever" is only 50%. But I guess she would be my favorite magic denier, along with Eggeater. I have both but not levelled yet, most legendaries are only 50 for max income so far. Too much money required for upgrading legendary habitats...

@Frunobulax HACKSTER, has AOE stun and AOE "hack" and is super fast and nobody's immune to hack... he's great
