I've been trying to get a new legendary dragon via the maze and I've had 3 legendary chests this week and all of them gave me 19k food.
I'm really annoyed with this as it took a lot to get these and I got something so little for it.

Am I really unlucky or is this game really rigged?
It would be good to see the probability of getting an object from a chest.

I'm reluctant to spend anymore money on this game.
Does anyone have any help on how to get legendary dragons without spending my money.

@andrew-newland You must just keep on trying if you don't wanna spend your money. You may think that you will never get something, but do not give up. I also did not get anything out of these chests a long time, but as long as you keep on trying, you will get something.

Yes.
Collect event coins and do the paths for the legendary dragons.
Place 1st 2nd or 3rd in heroic race.
Trade for legendary dragon orbs with your alliance.
Open those special chests in videos and islands for a chance at orbs or dragon eggs.
Etc etc etc. There really are many ways to get legendary dragons as a free-to-player like me.

Idk how unlucky you are, but I have been having the same problem, only with the Lucky lair. I am always next to the chest, or super close to it.i feel like it's rigged

Those chests are based on luck, you have to open several before you get a dragon. But it does seem in my experience that the more you open the more you start getting Dragons more often, not a lot, but more than when you first started.

@andrew-newland The % chance of premium rewards from any chest is really low. I'm quite structured about collecting the maximum number of event tokens for each event, so that I can do as much as possible in each event (without spending money). This means I open a lot of chests. Getting dragons as a reward is rare. It's almost always food. That goes for Legendary and Black Heroic chests too.

SP are generally not very transparent about the drop rates for premium rewards, but if you want an idea about what they are like, look at the chests in the Treasures shop. They give a breakdown of %. Typically, there might be 20 great dragons you could receive as a reward, for example, but they are only 0.5% chance each, meaning you only have a 10% chance of getting a dragon at all. The other 90% is food (or some other reward you are not interested in). And that is with chests you pay money for... the rates on free chests could be even lower!

If you want a Legendary dragon faster than opening chests, get two terra dragons empowered to 5 stars (just buy them for gold in the shop, hatch in 30 seconds, and recall... keep going until you have the orbs to empower all the way to 5 stars). Then add a couple of perks to open up the chance to receive Terraformer as a breeding option. If you keep breeding those 2 5* Terras, you will get a bunch of Longhorn but will eventually get Terraformer out of it. I have a 5* terraformer from doing that on repeat.

Similar technique can be used for other dragons, like Cosmic Detonation (flame and flame breeding), Movie Fanatic (electric and electric breeding), Baubleblast (dark and wind, I think).

I suggested Terraformer first because that has less possibilities for mis-breeds (like longhorn) and seems to have a better success rate than the others mentioned. I'm still working on 5* versions of the others I mentioned. Slow progress but an easy way to get empowered Legendaries.

@naomi-lyon Lucky Lair Is rigged to only give food and token chests for free, in my opinion. I don't know anyone who has received anything else as a reward from those. Can't complain, because its free, but I wouldn't spend gems opening the other chests as they are still luck-drop options, and therefore subject to the the will of the RNG Gods

Yes most chests are based on chance, but the chests shaped like eggs do give a dragon egg guaranteed.
Though this last set of events as a whole was a complete bust for me for the collection, I did have luck in the maze. I watched a video to double one legendary chest and got a dragon both times. Also got a heroic dragon from a black chest and another legendary in my second account.

When I first started my current game account, I had a lot of luck with Heroic chests. Picked up 3 or 4 dragons in a short time period. Since then, I've been drawing food consistently. I wondered whether SP boost your luck with those when you are new, to try and get you spending money on your shiny new Heroics.

I agree with you that Lucky Lair is rigged. For the first 10 times I picked the far left card, and always got either the food or the gold. Then for the next 10 times I picked the far right card and still always got either the food or the gold. Once I got the gold and decided to spend the 5 gems and I got the food.

Not to say it's impossible, but they display the cards making you think there's an equal chance to get any of the six. I don't think that's the case, it's like 50% gold, 45% food, and the rest are in the 1-2% range.

One time the first card I picked In Lucky Lair was for a Legendary egg chest & I was disappointed to get a Terraformer because I had already empowered mine to 5 stars & didn't need it. Now that we are going to be able to take dragons to 6 stars I am glad I got that extra Terraformer egg.
