Hello everyone and welcome to my 157th analysis, this time featuring Samael the Plague Carrier.
Overview: SP did everything in their power to dethrone the now-former king of Monster Legends. They introduced things to counter turn passing OTK like Anticipation monsters and Warmaster Elvira, and other, equally overpowered monsters like Warmasters. He is no king now, but Plague Carrier is still among the very top tier bad boys. He has Bulwark as his Trait, making status effects only 50% likely to hit him, and is extremely versatile, capable of giving extra turns to allies, healing and resurrecting them, dealing good damage and providing buff/debuff control, all in a single moveset. What truly separates him from other extra turn givers, even other Samael forms, however, is the fact that Samael Warrior, Plague Carrier's turn giving skill, not only costs 0 Stamina, but it also gives 100% Stamina to the recipient of the move, making Stamina Drain useless against him. Combined with his great Speed tier of 3498, you have yourself one of, if not the, best support monster in the entire game. The aforementioned road blocks do exist, but they are never truly enough to completely stop Plague Carrier.

Builds:
Monsters that have access to Group 4 skills will have a slightly different build path. I will list the most viable builds for each Rank since some moves in Group 4 are pivotal to some sets' success. The monster's role will likely remain the same, however, so this won't be exhaustingly long as I won't repeat the same things.

Rank 0:
Moves:
-Pain Scourge
-Black Sickness
-Necromantic Secrets
-Death Delay/Death Moratorium
Runes: 3 Speed/3 Team Speed
Mutant Rune options: Speed&Life, Team Speed&Team Life
Relics: Amulets and Shields

Build Explanation:
Pain Scourge is Plague Carrier's most useful attack at this point; it is a Base 40 Dark AOE that Dazes and removes the buffs of all enemies while removing the debuff of all allies. It is useful against Mega Taunt casters or when the game reaches a stage and buffs/debuffs start going all around the place. Black Sickness is better against Mega Taunt casters and Dodge Area monsters than Pain Scourge, and it also has 0 CD to counter CD Activation. Necromantic Secrets is a revival move, which is extremely useful. Lastly, Death Delay is a spammable 0 Stamina team healing move. You can consider running Death Moratorium here as well, if you care more about greater instant healing and Regeneration.
3 Speed is useful to use Pain Scourge before your denier moves to rid the enemy team of Mega Taunt and/or Evasion, but this spread's use is not too great yet. Instead, Samael makes for a great Team Speed carrier with his current moveset. For Mutant Runes, Life Mutations are the most useful options.

Rank 1: Plague Carrier learns "Unholy Resurrect" at this level, a move that revives an ally with 100% Life.
Moves:
-Pain Scourge
-Black Sickness
-Unholy Resurrect
-Death Delay/Death Moratorium
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as listed above.

Build Explanation:
The same game plan, but with a 100% Life resurrect instead of a 50% one.

Rank 2: Plague Carrier learns "Pestilence" at this level, a 0 Stamina, AOE Dark move that removes all buffs from targets, followed by applying Poison, Bleed and Special Weakness to them.
Moves:
-Pain Scourge
-Pestilence/Black Sickness
-Unholy Resurrect/Death Moratorium/Death Delay
-Ergotoxicosis/Death Moratorium/Death Delay
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as listed above.

Build Explanation:
Pestilence is a strong buff control tool that can be used even after getting drained of Stamina. Not only this, but Special Weakness is useful since your monsters are likely to have this element of attack, which strengthens them. This will make you almost useless against Dodge Area monsters, however, so you may still run Black Sickness over it in case the enemy has such monsters.

Rank 3: Plague Carrier learns "Samael Warrior" at this level, a 0 Stamina move that gives the target ally 100% Stamina, Damage Boost and Precision and an extra turn.

(Support)
Moves:
-Pain Scourge
-Samael Warrior
-Pestilence/Black Sickness
-Death Moratorium/Death Delay/Ergotoxicosis/Unholy Resurrect
Runes and Mutant Runes are the same as listed above.

Build Explanation:
Samael Warrior is the best turn transfer move in the game, and one of the best support moves in the game in general. It can be used even at 0 Stamina, and gives the target Precision as well, which is complimented very nicely with Damage Boost. Pain Scourge remains a necessity for the insane buff/debuff control it provides. Pestilence's usefulness is still appreciated. For the last slot, personal preference is the deciding factor.
3 Speed is the main Rune spread now, as he now has access to a turn transfer skill. However, this is ill advised versus Anticipation monsters, unless you have something like Evasion or Mega Taunt to hide behind.

(Attacker)
Moves:
-Samael Warrior
-Pain Scourge
-Ergotoxicosis
-Pestilence/Unholy Resurrect/Black Sickness
Runes: 2 Strength 1 Speed
Mutant Rune options: Strength&Life, Speed&Life

Build Explanation:
The introduction of Samael Warrior gives birth to an attacker set that is almost immune to Stamina Drain. Use Samael Warrior on yourself, then nuke something with Ergotoxicosis, or deal great AOE damage with Pain Scourge. The last moveslot is based on personal preference.
2 Strength 1 Speed with Life Mutations is the standard for attackers.

Teammate Options: The sheer utility Samael provides makes him a great fit on any team. However, you need Samael Warrior to be a game changing skill, so you should preferably have either a monster with AOE deny skills or an extra turn spammer like Prince Charmless that can deny the enemies with increased Precision or end the game, respectively, alongside the 3 Speed spread. The attacker set works like any other normal attacker does and does not have any unique interactions, besides the Skill Mirror interaction with turn transfer attacks, as they are reflected back to the caster to get an extra turn on the user as well. Countering Samael the Plague Carrier: Anticipation is key in staving off Samael, since the Trait will allow you to interrupt the deadly outcomes of Samael Warrior. Other than this, CD Activation completely ruins Samael, so monsters like Pierceid can exploit this weakness. For more Counter options, check out this article.
