Hello everyone and welcome to my 162nd analysis, this time featuring Darmith's Bodyguard.
Darmith's Bodyguard is very fast-in fact, he's the fastest Fire monster as of my writing of this analysis. Not only that, he has the moves to put it to use: team Freeze immunity, Water protection, damage and precision boosts, and Special protection, the last of which is a first among all monsters. Despite all this, Darmith's Bodyguard finds it extremely hard to apply any pressure at all, with pathetic Base Strength for a Fire monster and no deny effects at all: not even a Daze or Blind.
Movesets:
-Special Lizard
-Fire Cursed
-Atlantis Pact/Face In Book
-Dragon Souls
Runes: 3 Speed
Special Lizard removes all debuffs from the team and applies Special protection which is useful vs. things like Megaosteum's Bone Chomp or Greedy Dragon's Gold Lust. Fire Cursed opens the way for other AOE Fire users by applying a differently named Sticky Lava. Atlantis Pact gives Freeze immunity and Water protection to all team members. Not only is this useful in many Wars thanks to Freeze being a very dominant effect, but it also greatly hampers Lucifire the Hopefreezer, who has a single target move that is of the Water element and applies Freeze, though its high Base Power will still make the move hurt greatly. Another alternative here is Face In Book, which allows him to counter General Thetys' Stamina Devourers since he is faster and the Stamina regen will give your monster enough Stamina to use an attack for 3 turns! Lastly, Dragon Souls gives Damage Boost+Precision to all team members, which helps the denier or Team Speed carrier of your team to deal a bit more damage. 3 Speed is needed since almost all of his moves work best when used before anyone does anything.
Teammates: Monsters with AOE Fire moves, like almost any other Fire monster or Flamerion, will greatly appreciate Fire Cursed. Since his buffs are universally useful, Darmith's Bodyguard can find a place in almost any team, but make sure it has an attacker since the required presence of a denier will cut into the damage output of your team.
Countering Darmith's Bodyguard: Removing buffs renders Darmith's Bodyguard utterly helpless since he is all about them. If you don't use Freeze or Water moves, Atlantis Pact will be rendered literally useless since he has minimal damage.
EDIT: Fire Cursed applies Fire Weakness to all enemies BEFORE dealing its damage. This could allow him to be a fantastic attacker, as Fire Weakness boosts damage by 80% and makes the move unresisted. Plus, Sticky Lava does indeed stack with Fire Weakness, which can lead to even more damage. If you're going to make him an attacker, 2 Strength 1 Speed is the way to go as this will allow him to outspeed a vast majority of 1 Speed monsters and maximize his damage output.
