I've recently started Dragon City, managed to get to the second island but now that there's more restriction for buying the lands is that I need more neighbours...

Welcome to Dragon City and the forums. Yes, it is important to have a few friends in game. The easiest way to get friends is to post your Facebook info to the OFFICIAL NEW NEIGHBOR ADD THREAD. While there, scroll down the page and send friend requests to others who are looking. You must add each other as friends on Facebook in order to be neighbors in game.
