I was looking for some possible guidance on what to use for my attack and Defense teams. I currently have a small selection of legendaries all between levels 45 and 70. They are vadamagma, Barbatos, rockantium, VoltaiK, timerion, thordor, patrion, tempest, the judgement and the firestorm. Any and all help is appreciated!

@steve-johnson Voltaik could be good on defense if you have him skilled with all of the extra turn skills. Also he would then need at least one stamina rune, preferably your best. I use him on attack, since on defense he has a tendency to use his ultimate, which end his extra turns early. Timerion is also good on defense, I don't have him and REALLY hate running into him. You ideally need a denier on each team. I am guessing that will be Timerion and Tempest. If Tempest, he is not really good on defense, since I believe it is just the one AOE stun that he has. I would use him on offense. Can't really say much about the rest, since I don't have all of them. Vadamagma is an OK attacker if given lots of strength runes, but is not particularly fast.

I am guessing you are in lower gold pvp ranks at best, in which case...
Tim-and-Volt is a classic attack pairing. Tim all speed. Volt runes depends on their level. Anything above VI can run team speed, stamina, strength. The 3rd monster can be anything (don't ignore your epics) as long as it runs all team speed. Tim will either go first or second. If he goes first, Stop Time the next in the turn order and either Cooldowns Activated or Space Time depending on the opposition. Tim controls the field until Volt gets a go and kills things. If Tim goes second, he is immune to denial so he can still control the field until Volt gets a go.
Bear in mind your defence can face the same assault. But that has been a problem forever, only really solved with the arrival of Riftmaker and Faraday (to a lesser extent, Tesaday, who does ok vs Volt but gets smashed by anything else).
You have limited denial options so be creative and try things out. Vadamagma is frequently underestimated and hits hard. Currently buffed I believe. You could try something with triple threat, daring the attacker to miss. Barbatos (both extra turn buff moves, to make possession very risky, MoP natch, and Hellfire), Patrion (stun immune, lots of nasty debuffs and DoT), Vada - all 2 speed 1 strength - would really get up in the face of an attacker that fails to neutralize all of them on opening.
It is advisable to ensure all your defence monsters have a 0 cooldown attack.
When you are attacking, you will get a sense of what you don't enjoy facing on defence. Take your cues from that experience. Experiment and have fun! Lastly, don't forget your relics.

@C0ntr1v3d that is the response I was hoping I’d get, thank you very much! I’ll be trying those combos right away!

depends on how the new AI in defense will work to ensure you get all the good defense moves. anyway timerion is one of the best defender in the game he's immune to effects (except of cooldown on moves) and he has amazing skills - in fact he helped me get through some of the toughest bosses on adventure map. but anyway I use him for defense - he's always a good choice. just make sure you equip him with speed
voltaik is also one of the best monsters in the game - if you equip him with stamina runes you either deny him or he finishes you. his trait is tough so sometimes the effect on him is missed therefore he's harder to deny. on the other hand AI can be silly - e.g. when he gets special attack (and he gets that a lot) unless you're out of stamina you shouldn't use it because it doesn't have extra turn. AI is not intelligent enough not to use it. usually special attacks are the strongest so it uses it asap which is unfortunate with voltaik. good for voltaik is also that possession means nothing for him (unless you equip him with strong strength runes - that's why I prefer only stamina runes. if possessed he doesn't do much damage to you and he then continues to destroy the world of opponent).
from your list complete the team with patrion or tempest. tempest has stun to all - again if he's fast and AI would use it
it's hard to find a balance for defense team (btw defense is with the new pvp more important than offense) if you chose strength you can be possessed. possession monsters are always good for defense especially nishants b'guard which can be easily obtained from team shop . many people use him for defense
if you choose voltaik and you don't equip him with speed (Because you need to have stamina on him) he's slow and can be denied or killed... - but if he gets to his turn he's unstoppable
there's no defense team that would NOT lose (thanks to ... AI)
as for the offense voltaik is the strongest monster in the game - you just have to make sure he will get to move
timerion is good also for offense because in offense you need denier first
always make sure you have one denier that is faster than all your opponents - timerion has cooldown activated and I think he never misses with that move. sure it wouldn't help against voltaik and some moves without CD but it's one of the best denier moves in the game
you need to do a combination , maybe keep changing your team to fit specific opponent . it's unfortunate you cannot use defense monsters to attack so you have to temporarily take them out of the defense exposing your defense and then you have to put them back. it's awkward but what can you do. barbatos is really strong , judgement can be strong too
again depends on who are you facing.
my offense is voltaik (stamina) thetys (speed) and frostwrath (team speed) thetys will be fast thanks to speed runes and team speed from frostwrath, frostwrath can deny further if needed or retrieve stamina and voltaik is there to kill
also thetys timerion and igursus (because that's my only l130 monster so it's obvious choice).
later on you will get to a point where you will face opponents you cannot beat and you will be killed by opponents that are much stronger.
current pvp is a mess . you just need to get a league that you can reach and there you will sit getting the same rewards all over again.
currently I'm not doing any attacks I just wait till last hour of the season to do one attack to get rewards because without spending hundreds or thousands on this game I cannot go up further - it's impossible
