Someone has already posted this in The Mythology Maze discussion but I just wanted to call this out. I'm pretty sure this change was caused by items removal from roulette recently:

I got maze coins, 50 of them to be precise.

ANyway, they are in Monsterwood now.

Why are battle items even still a thing? They are the most obsolete aspect of this game and need to be completely removed.
