With the Monster Wiki apparently dying a slow death, we really need another resource. Supposedly, SP is rolling out something this year that will help make stats and information more clear. Whether that's in-game or online, we don't yet know.

In my opinion, we'd really need an actual Wiki. The Monster Wiki site is a wiki in name only. We need a crowdsourced, crowd-edited wiki page. There is one that was active before the Monster Wiki took off, but it's been dead for years. I've made a few minor edits here and there and would love to do more on it. I just don't have the know-how or time to learn redoing a wiki from the ground up. My opinion, the templates would need to be redone.

Anyone out there willing to join me on the endeavor? We could eventually put in to adopt the page (becoming administrators) but that doesn't seem to be necessary to get the work started. I'm looking for a person or two who could help me get the groundwork laid and start putting in information. Anybody have any wikia contribution experience that would be interested?

Who owns the wiki ? Why is it dying , it was always updated by the general public for free , no ? The only thing wiki is missing is calculators for damage calculation and current events .

@Tara-Nicole-Martin Monster Wiki isn't really a wiki, it's just called that. It's a fan site run by one guy. It is not updated by the general public. Just the one guy. I don't know how, but I think he had some sort of special access to ML data. He still updates with new monsters, but not very quickly. And that's about it. He doesn't update with event information or the like anymore.

So here's my ham-fisted attempt to clean up the format of the page over on the Wikia. Colors and CSS styles can be looked at later.

The included stats are at the monster's unranked max level (40 in this case). Is there really a need to know what its stats are at lower levels? I absolutely intend to slowly go through and start implementing this clean up across the Wikia, before trying to update it with new information. I just wanted to get some feedback on the look. Thoughts?

Well, I've adopted the Wikia now and have completely revamped nearly 100 monsters (I've started at the beginning of the Monstagram and just moved forward). Templates are all made, it's just data entry at this point.

I'm going to keep going, even if I'm doing it alone, but I'd love some help! Anybody?

It boggles my mind that ML wiki is able to die like this, I think most paying players base their investments on what's available there, and now it's pretty much abandoned, without any official replacement from SP even though this has been looming for over a year.

SP should either create a similar site or get the person who was taking care of the site on their payroll, I don't see the game lasting much longer without it, those power bars still don't mean a thing, skills descriptions are not accurate and change depending on which language you use.

Get it together please

Case in point, this new monster Yntec, I have no clue what he does and the description in the game is so vague it's completely useless, why would anyone strive to get those candles to obtain it?

As Marianne said, everything is very much a work in progress, but we hope to eventually get everything rewritten and updated. Then we hope to be the most current resource for game information. Being an actual wiki allows it to be crowdsourced as well, meaning it doesn't fall to a single person to keep the ball rolling.

The complaint isn't in the after release posting of the info...it's that unless monster-wiki posts the upcoming monster's stats/skills before they are released, how are folks to know whether it's worth obtaining or not? If monster-wiki stopped altogether that's a serious blow to new monster "hype".

That said, if I get some time in the next couple of weeks I'll see if I can chip in to help update the wikia pages. Having the info available from another source is always good.

@karryt Honestly, my hope is that, once we get the Wikia up and running, that maybe we can talk SP into giving us the same hook up that monster-wiki has apparently had. That way, we could be ahead of the curve. That's entirely up to SP, though!

And thanks for the kind words about the spreadsheet. I'm hoping I might be able to incorporate it INTO the wiki eventually. Then I won't have to always update and upload Excel files! But I'm currently up to my neck in updating Book information!

And if ANYONE is interested in helping contribute to getting the Wikia up and running, please let me or @Marianne-van-Es know. Don't just go in there rogue and start editing things or creating pages. There's a small group of us coordinating together to make things happen, trying to get a consistent look and feel to everything. There are A LOT of templates we're constantly using and certain ways of formatting things.

are you using a relativ database behind the monsters for the informations like life, power, speed and so on or do you save all informations manually?
Is it possible to calculate these values for every monster level?

@Claudius-DC-Sailer Right now it's entered manually. We intend to include stats at each ranked level as well. As of right now though, there are no plans to have it calculate it at each and every level.

Related to Claudius' reply, I think that stats should be easily calculatable(i could probably make it so you only need to fill up 7 instead of 18 stats manually;power and speed are just an arithmetic progression that changes every 2 levels->stats at rank 0 and 2 are enough, life changes just like displacement does with constant accelaration, circles every 5 levels; ranks 0, 1 and 2 are enough), my problem is I don't know how to do that without the Variables extention. Does anyone another way to input some information and calculate the rest from that information?

@Dorijan-Lendvaj Actually some of what you've mentioned, we've already got one of our team working towards. As of now though, I don't know that we'll make it for each and every level, just the highest level at each rank. I'll keep you in mind, though, if things on his end don't work out!

the calculation method for speed and Power is easy.
use the value at level 90.
level90 / 100 is the value that every level change. The only problem is level 1-10 by monsters. in this range the method doesn‘t work.

I have the calculation in a java code and in my MonsterApp....

that’s why I asked, whether there is an Relational Database or static data behind the wiki page. You need in a database only a view values und with calculation methods you can get all values.

@Claudius-DC-Sailer I know how to calculate stats if I know some of them; my question is, how to implement ANY calculating to Wikia if there is no Variables extension?
