I don't really have a lot of gems, but I have a lot of gold. The thing that bugs me is that you don't really get gems that often, and I have too much gold. I'm at the point where I have a ton of gold, but no gems! I need more room to place more habitats, buildings, and dragons, but the 3rd island needs 50 gems! Plus, if I can't hatch more dragons and build, how am I supposed to level up to earn gems? I just wish that we can exchange gold for gems if we have a lot of gold.

@Silver-Sylveon This will never happen. All freemium games have their own unique type of in game currency that you must purchase, using cash, to be able to obtain premium items. This is where the developers turn a profit, which enables them to pay their staff and other bills.
In Dragon City, it’s the gems. Although Dragon City is actually pretty generous when it comes to making free gems available. There are numerous ways of getting free gems BUT you actually mmohave to play the game. Almost every event gives you gems throughout theevent. You can also get gems through completing tasks and league battles. On Facebook, there is a daily calendar and a roulette that offer the chance to get free gems. On mobile devices there is Freebie Island that gives you free gems for watching videos and completing tasks. You just have to exercise some self control and hold on to your gems until something you really want becomes available. Don’t waste them on speeding up breedings and hatchings.
So just continue having fun and enjoy the opportunities the game gives you!
