Has the amount of tokens decreased even more? I'm getting virtually nothing for food. And all I have grown so far is Rainbow Snow Peas, so the "tokens get less as you collect them" can't really have kicked in. (I will activate my food guardian tomorrow.) I think a round of 14 Rainbow Snow Peas gave me 7 coins, so 14 Black Lotus Root with Guardian would give me ~400 coins. I assume the payout drops sharply after that. I could have sworn that I got much more during the last event when I collected BLR for the first time.
Breeding Pandakens started at, well, something like 7 coins per Pandaken. Now I'm down to 4. Total waste of time.
With 3k tokens after 12h it seems I will collect about 3k more in the remaining 60h of the event, which means I can totally ignore it. Ah well. At least I can use all 4 hatching slots for the monsters I won in the maze.
As if Socialpoint is eager to frustrate players. I don't get it.
The thing is, I could understand it if one could acquire tokens for a reasonable price. Whittle down the price with grinding, and allow me to buy a monster for 100 gems or whatnot at the end of the event. Or allow me to get the missing coins for something. (With the grinding required, the price should be well below 249 gems.)
But I have to pay 1700 diamonds for 17k coins, which might give me one monster (or not). Tell me again, why should I spend 1700 gems where I'm not even guaranteed a monster, for a monster that is neither new nor especially good? If I can just buy 6 legendaries of my choosing for the same amount of gems, with change?
It's just as in the maze, where maze coins are ridiculously expensive - if you bought enough coins to get all 5 monsters (in the last maze), that money would have been sufficient to get what, 30 legendaries for 249 gems? And of course we have to grind badly to collect the "free" coins. There is only one word for this, which is SCAM.
If SP had any sense they would rework the event economy such that the pricing of monster in events is consistent with normal discounted offers. The islands work well in that respect, players can get monsters for free, but if they want more than maybe 3 monsters they have to throw in some gems. But mazes and challenges, well, their economy does only one thing, namely alienate players.
Sure, there will be "Ah, but it's free content" answers. To this I say: Think again. Look how Nemesis and Warmaster monsters will kill my teams easily that I have assembled in over a year of gameplay, with a healthy chunk of money (much, much more than any console game, even including DLCs and season passes). It's not free. SP needs victims for their whales, so they should better keep their players happy and give them something for their grind, even if they are only Dolphins, Minnows or (god forbid!) f2p.
Ah, I'll stop ranting. For some reason I think that game companies want to build "normal", long lasting business relations with their players/customers. Make them want to spend money, give them consistent value for their money, value customer satisfaction.
But in a world where even console games for 60 bucks are only "fee to pay", badly disguised pay-2-win microtransaction scams, I guess I'm not going with the times. Or whatever.
