Right ... OK ... normally I would say you have to pick the events you want to play, because you cannot do them all. However, in this case: both Battlegrounds and a Race are gem and time consuming team efforts. It's very difficult to do both well when they follow each other.

This is potentially very harmful for a team's cohesion. Some will want to play only one, and of course not the one the other half wants, others will want to play both, some will want to play none. SP, please space it. Battlegrounds instead of a Race, of which we already had an abundance anyway, would be perfect.

Sorry, the 3Q is coming to an end. SP needs all the whales buying gems so that they can show a nice profit. Who cares what players want when there's money to be made.

Fwiw, battlegrounds matchup was so broken that my team didn't spend any gems. So we are ready for race but already had a bunch of turnover as people jump teams.

We spent very little gems on battlegrounds. Didn't see the point as the rewards were quite underwhelming. Filled the territories with rubbish, kept our good monsters for attack, often just using 2 powerful ones if possible to get the win. We were very evenly matched with our opposition but either they used too many decent monsters on defense or they just weren't bothered either.
Now, having said that the rewards weren't up to much, if battleground was a weekly thing and we treated it as just basically a souped up team war then the prizes are OK.

@Ekto-Gamat agree completly, just slept mostly through first day of race and that is not my normal procedure xD. Better race before bg if anything of them close to eachother i think.

@Ekto-Gamat when we realised who our opponent is in BG, we just chilled. Only just made the 70 k reward bracket and spent bugger all gems. The race started and nobody on our team is excited and/or keen to put any effort into it, so just idled into lap 3 atm. Fortunately, our team is fairly united with this but I can see how this can split teams....

Who did you draw for BG?
We are fairly united as well. We did play BG (and beat Hamsters), but we are completely ignoring this race. In a team of 25/30 it is impossible to please all though.

I am more concerned for less organised or less cohesive teams. When you really want a particular race monster and your team decides not to play it's tempting to jump. If you like BG but no one in your team wants to do any actual effort it must be frustrating as well.

@Ekto-Gamat Virtuous Rebels - we actually took it quite seriously and set up a great defence. It wasn't until the beginning of attack phase that I saw a defence from Patrick Bernecker and a couple of other elite players that I recognised and told the rest of our team to not waste their gems....

.... what was odd is that they didn't really attack us until the last 4 hours of attack phase. They were only 5k points ahead of us and then annihilated our entire territories within the last few hours!

That is a really tough match up. And thanks for the info, I know what to expect if we draw them next time.

Saving all attacks until the last. 4 hours shows some very clinical and precise planning.

@Ekto-Gamat Yep, I was impressed too! Although my description above wasn't quite right. Just checked my screenshots: 6 hours to go they were sitting on 76k, 4.5 hours left on 109k with half of our territories cleared and another couple of hours later we were cactus! We actually were beginning to wonder whether they can't be bothered as well
