@ekto-gamat That’s interesting. So each effect is a multiplier in the calculation and not additive?

Would you expect a 50% accurate effect, with precision (accuracy increased by 50%) against a monster with bulwark (50% reduction in effect landing), to have a roughly 37.5% chance of landing using the equation?

    (base accuracy) x (1+increased accuracy effect) x (reduced accuracy effect) = 0.5 x (1+0.5) x 0.5 = 0.375 = 37.5%

And guard down bypasses the check entirely?

This is all easily testable, but I had generally assumed the effect to be additive, not multiplicative.

@karryt in quick testing in an adventure node against three monsters that did not have any hardened/tough traits and were 30 levels below mine, I applied precision to Kihaku and used Katsu Jinken repeatedly, which has a supposed 90% base accuracy and 50% chance to apply possession and freeze. Consistently, out of 6 possible effects landing, typically 1 and occasionally 2 or 0 would miss.

I’m not sure how to interpret that data. If precision increases the chance of the effects landing to 100%, none would have missed. If it did not effect them at all, it should have been closer to 3 missing routinely. Maybe it is a combination of not affecting the hit rate but other factors like the level difference are impacting the results. Or maybe it is precision increasing accuracy by a factor of 0.5 (50% accuracy x 1.5 = 75% accuracy). More testing might be in order.

Either way, it seems to conclusively indicate that precision on a 50% effect attack does not make that effect land every time.

If you had an experience that soured you towards the game related to gambling based offers, what was it?

For me, I got close to finishing the current limited time polar book final chapter and only needed frostbite, of all things. The top freezers chest came up and for about 280 cells I had a possible 1 in 7 chance to complete it. Given the reward for the chapter, it was worth a few chests.

Needless to say, my first five chests were all frostwrath. At that point against better judgement I started getting more desparate to justify the cost, already close to $50, and thought if I could get a lucky roll it would warrant what I spent up to that point. It wasn’t rationale and the past costs were already sunk, but gambling isn’t about rationale thought. With another $50 I had 2 cavenfish, a chill bill, and a few others. Still no frostbite. I had to pull the rip cord, and this was after spending $50-$100 or more to acquire the other monsters for the book. It was a problem - my problem and my choice, to be clear - but I should have known better.

Luckily I have enough disposal income that $100 isn’t a game changer for me, but it sure did leave my stomach tied in a knot, used up and with that sinking feeling as I had to face what I had paid, in real cash, for a chance opportunity for virtual goods that was dangled in front of me. Aware of the psychology behind “just one more roll” and still walking headlong into it made me feel physically ill. I don’t mind spending in a game, but that will hopefully be the last time I spend on a gambling based offer.

Piling on to taunt issues. The taunt component of Inquisitor Fulmen’s taunt + damage mirror does not appear to be working. Through testing in friendly team war battles, enemies are able to freely attack others besides Fulmen. My testing was limited to Fulmen, in a team that consisted of 110 Francine Frank 105 Warthak 100 Fulmen against teams that had Voltaik.

This suggestion is to make an epic only rune or relic or group of runes/relics that would have benefits that make an epic monster roughly comparable to a legendary in effectiveness.

An example would be a relic that increases monster base stats by 10%, and adds a 25% chance that that monster attacks will add a random torture effect to attacked enemies. Specific effects and benefits could be tailored based on game balancing, and the number of relics allowed per account could also be limited to reduce concerns about game imbalance.

The benefits would be increased viability of epics and more opportunities to develop strategies and synergies for specific monsters.

I could not agree more strongly. This would make the game playing experience leaps and bounds more positive.

Maze discounts are a great example. Knowing that there “might” be a 30% discount some players will literally set alarms for 2 in the morning to try and make it. Sometimes it turns out, usually it does not. In the long run players begin to get burnt out and don’t feel as good about the in game experience whether they are ftp or p2p. Eventually they will move on.

This is a very solid and enjoyable game in many respects. Better communication could make it great.

This is a question for developers or someone close enough to the team to ask.

In the remaining duration for the limited time polar book, will there be an offer available for frostbite (as a 249 gem monster special, etc)? I know it sounds odd, but there are probably a few people out there who will be close to finishing the book and only need the one relatively easy to get monster to complete it. Asking for a friend, of course.

@marianne-van-es One more question to make sure I’m interpreting that right. It takes around 20k coins to get each of the three new monsters to R0 - the same as posted in the initial post. Then it takes another 20k coins (40k total) to get two of them to R5. And only 2.4k more (22.4k total) to get Eeltron to R5? Or should his total be 42.4k instead of 23k?
