Ever since cell donations were introduced, players have been unhappy with the strict limits imposed. But not long after, it was discovered each team gets assigned a "reset" time for cell donations. Then for the hour that followed (called "happy hour" by many), we were allowed unlimited donations. It wasn't ideal, but it was a fair compromise. It was never clear whether or not this was a glitch, but if it was, it should have legit been made a feature long ago.

Now, SP has a track record of giving with the left hand and taking away with the other. We feel it's no coincidence that epic elemental cell extraction was introduced just before the nerf/fix/whatever to our happy hour.

So with all that in mind, as well as recent discussions about how the game has changed over time and some elements (such as rune removal fees) need to be addressed, we feel it's time to remove the cap on donations entirely. We're not asking for requests to change, but there's no reason to not allow unlimited donations. You've already blocked the ability to request many of the top monsters anyway, so where's the harm?

And for those wondering who I've been talking to, there are a couple FB chats with many competitive team leads. They're INFURIATED with these changes. With all the problems with the game right now, why mess with something that worked just fine? So please, don't just undo this change, but go further and throw your loyal players a bone.

Preferably, do it without taking away something else at the same time. 😒

Give us a break with the "if you don't like it, don't do it" mantra. This is part of a bigger issue.

It's a lousy value. Anyone claiming otherwise hasn't been paying attention. Is it fairly close to the 345 gem standard? Ballpark, maybe. However, we do get those really good X rune pack sales where the per-rune cost is MUCH lower, and it can even be argued you sometimes get a better deal through the cave - if you pray hard enough to the RNG gods.

But the point that's being glossed over is when mutants were announced, to squelch the backlash, SP claimed X runes would be made much easier to obtain. We've yet to see that materialize, and quite frankly this dungeon is a slap in the face.

As I'm setting up my roster for Battlegrounds, I've realized the rune-type-change idea would be an overall great QoL improvement for this game. As we're given an increasing number of game modes, easily tweaking or even changing a monster's role becomes ever more important. And honestly, the vast majority of us just do without and usually run with the "set it and forget it" mentality due to costs and, yes, hassle.

This won't be what you expect.

First of all, I need to give SP props. Of late, they're doing a few things right. They've realized the game is evolving, and have either eased up on monetary pressures (eg. free skill swapping) or given a few more freebies (eg. the cave) to compensate. The point is, the game we've come to know and love has changed dramatically since it was first released, and some aspects need to catch up.

Over the last two weeks, rune-swaps-for-gold has been GLORIOUS. Seriously, it cannot be overstated how much life this has brought into the game. I understand it was only intended to allow for conversions to mutant runes, but it's made other things possible. I enjoyed watching my friends change rune configurations to better combat certain levels of the nemesis survival dungeon, and joined fellow teammates in moving runes around for wars. It also let us change monsters' ROLES as needed, something that's been sorely lacking in this game. Customizing our monsters shouldn't be such a drain on our resources, especially considering how expensive good monsters have become lately.

On the ML Community page on Facebook, we were told that when the game was first made, the intent was to have all our monsters equipped with runes. Folks, that was when people had probably a dozen monsters to equip. We're WAY past that now, and to add to the strain, you've given us a rune sink in the Mutant Runes feature.

25 gems to remove an X rune is way, way too harsh. When reconfiguring a monster for war, you'll usually need to change at least two runes on at least one monster. Then after the war, you'll usually have to switch them back. That cost is bonkers, by any metric.

Now, I'm not onboard for a permanently "free" rune removal. That on its own wouldn't just change how the game is played, but could impact the economy in a negative way. However, there are no shortage of ideas for compromise I'd like you to consider. For example:

    • Tie further discounted rune removal fees into the rune guardian. For example, 50% off fees while the guardian is active.
    • My favorite: Keep the rune removal fees, but create a mechanic for unlimited rune type changes. If someone has a speed rune equipped, let them change the type to strength, team life, stamina, etc. on the fly (excluding golds). If they have a mutant, let them change the mutant combos. This way all monsters will still need to be equipped (which is already crazy expensive btw), but reconfiguring for wars will become accessible to non-whales.

As I've said in these forums before, we're increasingly feeling like we're being squeezed. Milked. Even ripped off. Why not back it off just a bit and evolve this part of the game as you've done others? This little change would make a big difference for your best customers. Please, consider this request and make them happy.

    "Monster Information

We know how important it is to have as much information as possible about the Monsters we release.
For that end, we are thinking about new ways to show stats, traits and skills directly inside the game, even before the event starts.
This might take some time to be implemented in-game. In the meantime we commit to show reliable and detailed information about Race’s Monsters through our social channels (Update Section, Forum, Discord, Facebook)."

Thank you, SP. When it comes to monster info, this is even more than I could have asked for. For now, @Marianne-van-Es's stat sheets are awesome as long as they're release early enough!

From what I've heard, the monster was definitely nerfed from when we first learned about him. AND the reality of the ambiguous skill descriptions turned out to be the lesser of the possibilities. I won't say the monster's useless, but it doesn't come close to having the impact we once believed.

SP's continued silence leads me to believe the whole series of events was calculated. They knew the monster seen from early data-mining would turn heads, then the skill descriptions on the wiki would keep us on the hook through the race.

Now the question is, will they continue this practice or be a little more open in the future? My money's on the former. Come on SP, I'm begging here, prove me wrong.

As to bending over and taking it, no. How many laps have you done?

We did 50 as we always do, and financially I didn't see it as any worse than any other race if you consider the extra time we got to do the longer breeds/hatches. We hadn't ruled out 100 until word circulated about the ridiculous cost.

However, all that is irrelevant to my OP. This thread was intended to address lack of communication in situations where the benefit TO ALL to be more transparent greatly outweighs the desire to keep things shrouded in secrecy.

The only problem with this approach is that players get burned out, even "paying customers", not just f2p "part of the product". How many players do you know have retired during this year?

I had two great people on my team retire mid-race. This whole event just pushed them over the edge.

If a game stops to be fun and becomes your second (or main) job while it's you who pays and not getting paid with the "fun" part then what's the point of playing. Less players = less revenue as far as I know.

This is what we've been trying to tell SP since the buyout. They're squeezing and squeezing their most loyal players. They know these people are already at least somewhat addicted, so they keep at it. Well, they've squeezed too hard over the last 6 months and we're seeing MANY top players vanish from the scene. It's sad really, because at its heart it's a great game.

Sorry @Marianne-van-Es but this is a terrible attitude to have in both life and as representing a business. What the players are asking for is NOT so outrageous it should be dismissed in such a way. If this is SP's official stance, someone needs a serious attitude adjustment.

The gaming industry is fast and ever changing, aimed at short term high profits. Even outside the gaming industry there are not many company chiefs who look beyond numbers. If SP sees races are generating profit it will be very hard to convince them to change anything about them. Only took them two years to change the race format to lap rewards after all, and probably only after being convinced it was more profitable to do so.

Yes, would also love them to take a look at the bigger and more humane picture, but it is hardly surprising or typically SP that they (whoever makes the end decisions) do not.

You're missing the point. We're not asking for the impossible here. In fact, it would cost them nothing and arguably could increase long term profits by not driving their most avid player base away. Their (silent) argument would probably be "but we want to be able to change things last minute without blowback", but I'm sorry, that ship has already sailed. Call Taringa! "unofficial" all you want - it's still out there and readily accessible. Showing their players customers a little respect is not so hard, and they could use a little good will right now.

@sinisism I agree 100% communication is the key to making everyone happy. SP need to have more transparency, not only for races but for every aspect of the game.
There are so many issues that need to be addressed and yet it doesn’t appear that anything is being done.
To release this race when they are on holiday so that anything that goes wrong can’t be fixed is just ridiculous.
Many are complaining about not only the race, but maze, matching, overlapping events, the list goes on.
I have said this continually that SP needs to slow down on events and introducing new content at such a fast pace, all aimed at taking our well earned money, while not fixing known bugs or glitches.
I’m aware SP has a small team to do all this, then maybe they should be looking at employing more people to resolve these issues.
We need transparency if you want us to continue playing this game, so many have just given up and quit and so many more will do the same.

From a player's perspective, it's hard to argue with any of this. But from SP's perspective, they've gotta have some whacked priorities just to make Take-Two happy. That's why I try to choose my battles carefully.

I truly believe there are two camps within SP. One worried not one lick about the players, and the other being actual gamers themselves trying to make ML fun and functional. If I'm right, it's clear which side is winning the internal struggle.

I totally agree as well, and not just about the race. New monsters, new events and a lot of existing events could really use some clarifying. Chest odds of getting a certain prize, percentages on "special breed monsters", especially when 2 result can come out of the same combo. When it comes to race, it would be much better if we could test the race monster and all his skills before or while the race is active.
Another problem I have with the issue is maze discounts, you never release any sort of official info about these discounts and you certainly dont allow third-party info to be shared on discord or here.

There's a whole lot of complaining going on. Team leads are up in arms over every aspect of this race. Rather than pile on with each issue (and each one sure has merit), I'd like to be constructive here.

Social Point, you NEED to improve your communication.

You have a tremendously active, invested, and knowledgeable community. Stop letting us get all our info third-hand, or from Taringa!'s data-mining. YOU are the cause for all the confusion over monster skills, traits, and so on. Your silence frustrates us all.

Case in point: SHADEMOON. Between the nerfing, new mechanics, and ambiguous skill definitions on the wiki, NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE RACING FOR. And considering how prohibitively expensive laps 50-100 are, we need some solid info. At the beginning of each race, we'd appreciate a FULL explanation of the prize. Please be open about stats, skills, and how the monster's mechanics work. Enough with the "if you don't like it, don't race" attitude we've been getting over on Discord. You know EXACTLY how much the latter half of this race costs us, and we deserve to know what we're getting for our time and MONEY.

Furthermore, not everything needs to be a mystery. For example, regular schedules of events would be tremendously appreciated by all. Open discussions - or at least explanations - of game-altering new mechanics BEFORE dropping them in our laps can make them much more clear. Preventable grievances like these accumulate in your hardcore players' minds until they just give up and quit the game.

Finally, this is not a solo rant. Before I wrote this, I talked to a number of team leads and they not only agreed with this sentiment, but encouraged me to make this post. We're tired of playing in the dark. Lift the shades and shine some more light on our gaming experience!

Unless SP plans to significantly drop chest prices, this is - at minimum - an 85% reduction in rewards (at least for the upper tier). More, if you consider the RNG factor of not getting what you want from the corresponding chests.

Regarding the changes themselves, as some of the players mentioned in this thread, the changes have no monetization purpose but should bring longevity to the game.

Even if we're to believe there's no motivation to milk more from customers, that will be the end result (assuming longtime players don't leave entirely). I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment of moving the game forward, but this is too drastic. Too much too quickly.

@C0ntr1v3d Call me arrogant all you want, but you can't call me wrong. The vast majority of players I've spoken with - most of whom don't have a bunch of maxed gold and diamond relics, btw - seem more frustrated now than when relics were being introduced.

If SP as a whole is interested in "making good" over all this, one idea to consider is tweaking some monsters' skill functionalities to make them a little more viable in the new meta. True, a few popular monsters have rarely-equipped skills that will do well going forward. But they're in the minority.

Gold for skill changes is a solid first step, but won't go far enough to smooth all this over.

It's funny how the majority of the SP apologists are either those with so much disposable income that they can afford to replace a good chunk of their current lineup, those with anti-meta sentiments to begin with, or a combination of the two.

I've complained about SP doing too much too quickly in the past. Our current situation eclipses all prior changes. In such a short period, we're getting monsters with traits designed to shake things up a little. Fine. Variety is nice, and new options are welcome. But yesterday's announcements don't just "shake" things up, this is a frikkin' quake intended to level cities.

We build our rosters over time, based on certain rules inherent in the game. Sure, they gradually become outdated and we "upgrade" to the new bright and shinies. Key word: GRADUALLY. Optimistically, this lessens the usefulness of many of our common deniers. Realistically, the meta is shifting HARD. #notcoolwiththis

If all these changes stand, it'll be way too expensive for me to keep up and fix my roster to adjust to completely revamped battle strategies. I sincerely doubt I'll be alone in this regard.

It's disgusting to see an Opponent's Attack Team with Triple 100-110 monsters attack a Defense Base with 3 Monsters under Level 40!

We like to use sheets as a tool, and we've become increasingly fluid with our "assigned" attacks as people better learn what they can and can't win. What most people misunderstand about sheets is they're not a strategy for the individual, but they help the team craft an overall strategy.

Bottom feeding is discouraged in well organised teams, not because it is unfair, but because it is poor strategy. In every team there are stronger and weaker players. If your stronger players attack the other team's weaker players, then your weaker players are left with the stronger enemy bases to have to attack. So your weaker players lose more and the overall result is a lower team coin haul. If your opponent bottom feeds - rejoice! It hands you a strategic advantage.

And this, my friends, is the biggest reason why some of us still use speed charts. With time and patience, a good team can readily spot a handful of opponents they should attack. Charts make it easier to see what the enemy brings and where you fit into the picture.

Many of us avoid playing adventure mode as well as collecting goal rewards. As we level, the 72 Hour Card Flip event becomes increasingly impossible to the point it's barely worth attempting. No game should penalize players for playing new content. I honestly can't remember the last time I played the adventure map for this very reason.

If you're not going to fix that event's mechanic, could you at least give us an option of NOT collecting XP? Or NOT progressing to the next level? You have a system for collecting achievements, can't we do something similar (albeit more simplistic) for XP or leveling?

I'd really like to progress in the adventure islands again, but as long as you offer really good prizes for the 72 hour card flip, I can't afford to level any further. (As an aside, I love the idea of offering mediocre monsters for the 24 hour card flip. Higher players won't be bothered that it's impossible for them to complete, yet lower players can get themselves a "free" legendary. I thought that last one was awesome. Just perfect. Kudos.)

@testcyp Hundreds in all, not each element. Though, I do have some close to 100. We didn't have any major spending this time, either. 50 cells per gem pack is a lot, and many teams spend a whole lot more than mine.

For once, I don't disagree with SP's positioning. Think long-term, folks. Element cells have JUST come out, and many of us already have hundreds, if not thousands. Without imposed limits or restrictions on use, in too short a period of time fully ranked monsters would litter the landscape. You can argue specifics of their choice to impose the 80 cell requirement, but SOMETHING needed to be put in place to maintain the integrity of the game.

Unless they plan on raising the monster level cap to 150. Then, I'm out. lol

    Titans are not gone forever.

I'm both happy and sad to hear this. Is the event being reworked in any way? Because as is... well... let's just say it's not everyone's favorite. lol

There's a lot of crazy stuff going on between teams and individuals lately. Our goal is to make our own little bubble of sanity and enjoy the game (and winning!) in good company.

Organization, discipline, teamwork, camaraderie. Big on strategy, big on fun, big on getting the most out of the game and staying out of everyone else's business. Locking teams is just a patch. It is not going to stop the leak. The issue is to fix the entire system from creating multiple teams and stop the team hopping, but instead you punish all the honest teams for the complaints of those who are creating the problem in the first place.

The only solutions I can think of that I'd agree with is to either switch "races" to PvE events, change to a leaderboard event, and/or drastically change the reward system so everyone getting 14 laps (or whatever target) gets the main prize and everyone can then battle it out for elementium or whatever. Otherwise, the system isn't equally fair and minor tweaking won't make a bit of difference.

TBH, I still wish titans could be a PvE event.

What I'd really like to see is a special team dungeon type of thing. No, I didn't think an event through, I'm just saying a purely PvE team event - one where you fight something, be it a titan or a mob - would be an excellent change of pace.

The advantage is you're actually part of the team. Cell trading, chatting, and even be in occasional wars. Heck, even let'em contribute to races.

Maybe they could be designated as overflow, or the game could do it's selecting 30 players and have the 2 "weakest" sit out, as the system does already. I mean ideally the AI would do a better job of picking who gets excluded, but I wouldn't hold my breath there.

@RaisinToast said in SP, I'm begging. We're begging. On our knees. Please STOP!:

This might seem counterproductive to the point of the game, but is opting out of the race a option to consider? It sounds like when there is a race there is pressure and demand to win, which makes sense because that’s what it’s designed for, but perhaps if you can opt out and just not worry about it if it’s too intense, I see a lot of teams do that already, or it could be one of their multiple race teams. Nonetheless, like with every event, no one is forced to participate.

On the surface this is an obvious option, but for lightly-spending teams who want to be competitive, competing in races is the best way to "keep up with the Joneses". I did try opting my team out of the last race (before we knew it was a 5-star), and everyone wanted to do it anyway for the elementium and possibility the second monster would be worthwhile. And for some, the food's an incentive too.

It's not that I don't like races at all. Every other month, or maybe even monthly, I can deal with. But we need time to breath, and to stop and smell the roses!

As many serious players quit, trying to keep 30 people in a team can be a real struggle. It would be helpful if we could have an extra 1-2 spots tagged as "overflow", in case one person needs to suddenly drop from the team for whatever reason (rage, illness, emergency, etc.). Wars could remain maxxed at 30, of course.

Yeah, I know, this isn't high on anyone's priority list but could be a simple QOL improvement for war teams.

@Boro-Wing Some people believe the titan race is next. but even if they put a maze in between, it's been too much lately. The last two races were, what, 8 days apart? That's insane!
